Always ink of KD 4 KAPPA ALPHAS START YEAR ON HIGH NOTE Raise Over $25,000 for Children's Home Society, Recruit 89 Women A s we forge ahead into 2018, it is worthwhile to pause, take a moment, and reflect on Kappa Alpha's accomplishments over the past year. In 2017, our Chapter saw unprecedented accomplishments and upheld its high expectations for academics, philanthropic endeavors, and professionalism. We brought together 290 of the most well-rounded, exceptional women, and I am personally honored to share with you some of their momentous feats. KICK IT WITH KΔ RAISES MORE THAN $25K FOR CHARITY KΔ at Florida State University prioritizes philanthropic duty to the community through our support of Prevent Child Abuse America, the Girl Scouts of the USA, and the local Children's Home Society of Tallahassee. In October, our sisters came together for our fourth annual bubble bump soccer tournament, Kick It with KΔ. Under the leadership of outgoing Vice President of Community Service Caroline Kauffman '14, we raised over $25,000 for the local Children's Home Society. FORMAL RECRUITMENT BRINGS 89 PLEDGES We participated in Florida State University's formal recruitment week in August and invited 89 new women to pledge KΔ. All 89 invitations were accepted on Bid Day, and in the weeks following, our newest members were educated on our core values, founding members, historical foundation, Chapter establishment, and more. EXCEPTIONAL ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE The most recent report from the FSU Officer of Fraternity and Sorority Life reflects exceptional academic performance by Kappa Alphas. KΔ members' overall GPA exceeded the all-women's of 3.230, which comprises 18,017 students and 56% of the undergraduate population. REFLECTING ON OUR FALL ACTIVITIES In the fall, our sisters participated in a variety of on-campus activities, including clubs, intramurals, fundraising for the FSU Dance Marathon, and Panhellenic functions. FSU Parents' Weekend was another great success for us. Malia Hart '15 and Jewel Breadmore '16 organized a wonderful game day dinner at the Chapter House. Parents of KΔ members attended the football game, toured our house, and had the opportunity to meet with other members and their parents. I am excited to continue the excellent work that our outgoing president, Lauren London '14, accomplished in the last year, and I feel confident in my ability to continue strengthening our sisterhood. It has been an honor to lead the incredible women of Kappa Alpha since December 2017, and I thank all KΔ alumnae for your support. I look forward to the continued success of KΔ at FSU. In Love and AOT, Sarah Manning '15 Chapter President (850) 449-7385 sarahcmanning@gmail.com Kappa Alphas had a great time during their sisterhood retreat to Disney World last spring.
