In 2011, the Tehama County group gave out toys to 500 local children. Hospital to host wellness event for cancer patients The American Cancer Society is offering ladies who are undergoing cancer treatments a free "Look Good, Feel Better" session to learn to cope with appearance-related side effects of treatment and regain a sense of self-confidence and con- trol over their lives. This program is offered every other month in Red Bluff with the next session held from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, November 26. The session is hosted by St. Eliza- beth Community Hospital in the Coyne Center located at 2550 Sister Mary Columba Dr. in Red Bluff. reservations and more information, call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345. Registration is required. For "Look Good, Feel Better" is a free program offered in a group ses- sions, which provide education, information and support. In each session, volunteer cosmetologists or estheticians (all certified and trained professionals) teach women how to enhance their appearance using complimentary cosmetics and skin care products. Patients also learn how to disguise hair loss using wigs, turbans, scarves, and various ways people can make a dif- ference daily: Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps fam- ilies in need through a refer- ral process from different agencies in Tehama County. Volunteers are needed to help with the clean up and organization of donated items. Help is also needed to lift heavy objects and yard work. Information is avail- able at 384-9857. • The Guardian Angel Tax-Aide Program is seek- ing local volunteers to assist Tehama and Glenn county residents with state and fed- eral tax preparation. Bilin- gual volunteers are also needed. They accept and train volunteers between October and December. Vol- unteers are asked to give a minimum commitment of four hours per week between Feb. 1 and April 15. Expenses are reimbursed on a limited basis.
