Join us for our Daily News photo by Geoff Johnson The Presbyterian Church, whose float was a replica of the steam boats that used to ply the Sacramento River all the way north to Red Bluff, won the Themed Depiction Sweepstakes in Saturday’s Red Bluff Round-Up Parade downtown. Young Marines, Corps League lead parade The Marine Corps League Honor Guard, Detachment 1140, Tehama/Red Bluff and the Tehama County Young Marines lead Saturday’s Round-Up Parade in a pro- ficient military manner. Thousands of spectators rose up and saluted the flag as it was presented. League members also conduct memorial services at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery at Igo several times each week for all military services when requested. The official name of the Young Marines is - "The Young Marines of the Marine Corps League," and was first begun in 1959 by the Brass City Detachment in Waterbury, Conn. The Tehama Coun- ty Young Marines was the idea, in 2005, of members in Detachment 1140 and together they make a team of dedicated veterans and youth who serve their community with honor, courage, commitment, teamwork, leadership and discipline.
