While some buckles were won with rides and roping on Sunday, scores from Friday held up over the weekend as well. That was the case in bull riding where 91s posted by Brady Scott Williams and Clayton Foltyn held up across all three weekend perfor- mances to earn a split title for the riders. Williams posted his 91 aboard Smoke Signal and then Foltyn matched it riding Cowboy Caviar — a ride that was originally announced to the crowd as an 81 and later cor- rected. In bareback, Kaycee Feild, who entered the event second in the world standings, made the most of his Sunday run to post an 88. The ride edged out the defending Round-Up champion and 2009 world’s No. 2 ranked rider Clint Cannon, who had posted an 87 on Sat- urday. Afterward Feild cred- ited his good ride to a new attitude in 2010 geared toward winning a gold buckle at the National Finals Rodeo. “I’m riding every horse for first and not just for safety,” he said. “I’m going for the money.” When it comes to money it’s hard to find a cowboy who has won as much as Trevor Brazile, but Sunday in Red Bluff did not turn out well for the seven-time all-around PRCA champion. Brazile posted no times in both the tie- down and team roping events. That appeared to open the door for Matt Shioza- wa who turned in a quick second run on Sunday to take the aggregate lead by a full second. However, the judges ruled Shiozawa had put the calf’s safety in jeop- ardy when he jerked him straight over backward and disqualified him. That produced yet another first-place buckle Round-Up Money Winners Bareback 1. Kaycee Feild, 88 2. Clint Cannon, 86 3/4. Jared Keylon, 85 3/4. Jared Smith, 85 5/6/7. Steven Dent, 84 5/6/7. Northern California is turning into a memorable location for the team rop- ing duo of Ty Blasingame and Cody Hinta. The pair won the Red- ding rodeo in 2009 and on Sunday took advan- tage of the no times by Brazile and the world’s No. 1 Turtle Powell to capture a Round-Up title. It took until the sec- ond to last ride of the rodeo for Jill Moody to turn in the fastest time of the weekend in barrel racing. Her 17.21-second run on Sunday helped push her to the buckle with an aggregate time of 35.03. She edged out Molly Powell who turned in a total time of 35.30. Wade Sundell both post- ed 85s in saddle bronc on Sunday, but the scores weren’t high enough to catch an 89 posted by 2006 World Champion Chad Ferley earlier in the rodeo.
