Delta Upsilon Update 2 Fall Semester Filled with Success Collegiate Members Continue to Excel I am proud to announce how successful Delta Upsilon's fall semester has been. There have been so many great events and accomplishments. We are proud to report positive results from our new member period, the Walk to End Alzheimer's, and Homecoming. ACADEMIC SUCCESS For the spring semester, we had a semester GPA of 3.39. Our cumulative GPA is 3.41, above the all-sorority GPA of a 3.32. The previous semester, we received a 3.34 GPA. Our outgoing Vice President of Scholarship, Molly Limmer '15, is working to better utilize her committee to meet with women on their study points and positive self-assessment programs. We also give our most studious sister awards every month to show our continued support for academic excellence. FUNDRAISING FOR ALZHEIMER'S RESEARCH On September 16, chapter members diligently worked alongside association members to help run the Walk to End Alzheimer's. After countless hours of fundraising, our efforts totaled over $26,500! On October 9, members took part in a day of service benefitting philanthropies of Sigma Kappa and Panhellenic. Service options included a street cleanup respecting Inherit the Earth, a manor visit in the interest of Gerontology, and a boutique renovation at the Springfield Dream Center. In November, we held a holiday-themed event benefiting the Alzheimer's Association and Maine Seacoast Mission. DELTA UPSILON INITIATES 84 WOMEN This fall we initiated 84 amazing women in to our chapter! Throughout November the new initiates learned about various ways they can be involved in the Panhellenic community, be a global citizen, and opportunities for lifelong involvement in Sigma Kappa. 2017 HOMECOMING WINNERS We recently paired with Theta Chi fraternity members for Homecoming. From various competitions throughout the week, Theta Chi received the most points and we received the second most points, meaning our pairing won Homecoming! Throughout the week, we worked on our float and other competitions including a banner competition, canned food building, chili cook-off, decorate downtown, and a field day competition. We also are proud to announce that we completed a service project on October 16 for the Springfield YMCA where we painted and rebuilt furniture. "All of the hard work, countless hours, and planning finally paid off and it was great to see the chapter work so hard to reach our goal," Madie Osvath '16, Homecoming activities co-chairman said. SISTERS SHINE ON CAMPUS We have several members involved in leadership positions and other clubs in the campus community including resident assistants, Centennial Leaders, Emerging Leaders, and campus ministries. We have women involved in MoState Movement, dance clubs, and one member on the MSU Hibernotes a capella group. "This year, I have been selected to be an Emerging Leader facilitator. This will give me the opportunity to not only further my leadership skills, but help others develop their skills as well," Abigail Clark '16 said. STAYING CONNECTED The weekend of October 21-23 we celebrated our dads and the Bears at the Missouri State tailgate! We also had 62 alumnae stop by our Homecoming tent on October 29. There was lots of food, fun, and football! And finally, we also enjoyed our Founder's Day celebration on November 12. We cannot thank the alumnae, advisors, and women in the chapter enough for the success of this fall semester! Thank you to all who donated to our Walk to End Alzheimer's and for your continued support for our chapter! Loyally, Brooke Baysinger '15 Outgoing Chapter President baysinger612@live.missouristate.edu (573) 544-7823 Halle Craven '16 and her father had fun spending the day together tailgating and cheering on the Bears football team for Dad's Day! Brooke Baysinger '15 and Mackenzie Conard '14 were very excited that we exceeded our fundraising goal this year! Madison Kliethermes '15 had a great time at the Walk to End Alzheimer's this year raising money for a cause dear to her heart in honor of her grandmother, Bernadine. Payton Stillman '15 and Maddie Osthav '16 were our 2017 Homecoming chairmen. With the help of the gentlemen from Theta Chi, our team got first place. A ton of our work went into making our beautiful float to go along with our theme, "Oh The Places You'll Go!"
