Concert to feature contra-bass guitar The Chico State Classi- cal Guitar Ensemble invites the public to get on board for “Railaway,” its spring semester concert presented at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 30 in Rowland-Taylor Recital Hall. The annual spring con- cert features an array of contemporary works for guitar, spotlighting living composers, said concert coordinator Tobin Roye, Department of Music facul- ty member. “Railaway” will high- light the ensemble’s newly acquired instrument—a contra-bass classical guitar. “This unique instrument is a six stringed classical guitar, but is tuned an octave lower, which provides depth and fullness to the sound of the group,” Roye said. Select guitar students will perform solos, duos and quartets, varying in tempo, texture and style. The concert will climax with a spectacular finish, featuring the full, 13-mem- ber guitar ensemble, Royce said. Roye said this delightful guitar concert is “sure to please.” Advance tickets, at $15 adult, $13 senior, $6 stu- dent/child, are available at the University Box Office, x6333.
