Keeping Close with Kappa Alpha Χ Ω 3 Chapter Achieves Highest GPA in 10 Years Kappa Alpha Receives Certificate of Advancement (1) Senior Classy Cat Brittany Rouse '14 cheers on the Cats on the sidelines of a home football game. (2) Recruitment Chairman Ashlyn Ries '15 and Assistant Recruitment Chairman Sydney Brellenthin '15 led our chapter beautifully this August through both work week and recruitment. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to Chi Omega, ladies! (3) A sneak peek into our marketing visit all-house photo shoot on Anderson Lawn. How cute is this photo? T he Kappa Alpha Chapter of Chi Omega makes me proud every single day. One of our biggest achievements since last semester was receiving a Certificate of Advancement from National Headquarters for improving our performance scorecard by 15%. We also welcomed 46 new members this semester, and I have high hopes that these ladies will carry on the unmatched legacy of our Chi Omega Chapter. "We are so happy with the result of recruitment this year! The Chapter put in hard work to come together and produce something worthy of the Kappa Alpha name," reports Recruitment Chairman Ashlyn Ries '15. ACADEMICS IMPROVE TO FIFTH AMONG SORORITIES Kappa Alpha is immensely proud of the hard work members put into their schoolwork each and every day. Over the summer, we were notified that our GPA for the spring 2017 semester was 3.429—the highest it has been in over 10 years! To put things in perspective, one year ago we were ranked 10th out of 13 sororities on the PHC grade rankings; today, we are ranked fifth, with our GPA surpassing the all- sorority average for two consecutive semesters. "I can't wait to celebrate our members at our scholarship dinner this semester and reward everyone for their extensive progress!" says Vice President Madison Obermeyer '15. NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS EDUCATES MEMBERS ON MARKETING Due to our vast improvements in the past few years, we were granted a marketing visit from National Headquarters in order to improve our Chapter's marketing and to educate members on how to best market both Chi Omega and ourselves. We had an absolute blast and learned a lot at our all-house photo shoot on Anderson Lawn, marketing workshop, and mini-photo shoots around Manhattan. "I've already seen an increase in Chapter participation in bettering our social media presence, not to mention how incredible the all-house and mini-photo shoots were," says Marketing Chairman Nicole Biggins '15. LOOKING FORWARD Kappa Alpha is moving forward with a lot of exciting events and goals for the upcoming months. We held our third annual Wish Week event at the end of October to raise money and send our Wish Kid Nathan to the beach with his family. We also enjoyed our sisterhood retreat to the pumpkin patch. Initiation will be held at the beginning of February, and more information will be out shortly regarding that weekend. Feel free to contact me or New Member Educator Kelsey Shanahan '15 for more information. We are grateful to be part of such an encouraging and positive sisterhood, and the rest of the executive board and I can't wait to see our Chapter shine this school year. Lovingly Yours in Chi Omega, Maddie Jewett '14 Chapter President msjewett@ksu.edu 1 2 3
