Our Urgent Need OUR HOME AT UW-MADISON Built in 1905, 115 Langdon has been a part of Nu's legacy for over 110 years and is showing its age. During that time, the chapter has never completed a major renovation and it has become apparent that we must make a significant investment in our chapter house if we are to remain competitive and meet the needs of our initiates. While the Chi Omega experience is certainly about more than the physical structure of the chapter house, our home undoubtedly plays a significant role in the development of our sisters and as a proud symbol of our shared values and goals. CREATING A SISTERHOOD The University of Wisconsin is a growing, thriving campus and in that atmosphere Greek life continues to expand. Students today expect their chapter home to be the center of their Greek experience. However, Nu's membership is larger than ever and our initiates do not have adequate space to function well as an organization or grow as a sisterhood. The size of our current facility impacts meals, weekly chapter meetings, and recruitment. Nu is bursting at the seams. Our plan to reconfigure our space ensures that Nu members have a comfortable, updated home where they can gather with sisters to study, eat, and spend time together. SETTING OURSELVES APART While Nu continues to attract top women, we know that we are losing quality potential members to other sororities that offer better facilities. Several campus fraternities and sororities have completed changes to update and modernize their houses. Additionally, UW-Madison has expanded and improved residential living opportunities on campus. Competition is strong and we cannot allow Chi Omega to be left behind. KEEPING OUR SISTERS SAFE The safety of our 200-plus collegiate members is of utmost importance to the house corporation; we must offer a structurally sound and safe home for our collegians. Our chapter house must be a safe haven that instills confidence in our members and their parents. As we would in our own homes, we must periodically repair and make updates for comfort, safety, and peace of mind. Our growing membership and an aging house necessitates the need for action. In order for Chi Omega to remain a premier sorority at the University of Wisconsin, we must initiate repairs and renovations to our facility to continue to attract quality women. to place scholarship before social obligations and character before appearances;
