e Washington Alpha Delt 3 BUILDING THE ENTIRE MAN Washington Chapter Maintains Membership Excellence W ith the common goal of becoming the Entire Man: social, moral, and intellectual, deeply embedded into our brotherhood, I am proud to report on Washington Chapter's accomplishments in the past year with recruitment, academics, philanthropic involvement, member activities, and intramurals. Chapter Receives E.O. Blackman Most Outstanding Chapter Award Over the summer, Vice President Chris Medzegian '18 and I traveled to Alpha Delta Phi International Headquarters in Minneapolis, Minn., where we attended the 185th International Convention. At Convention, we received two awards, the E.O. Blackman Most Outstanding Chapter Award and the Andrew Onderdonk Alumni Association Excellence Award. The Outstanding Chapter Award is an honor to achieve a second year in a row and a reminder of what we strive for. Nonetheless, we have already begun working toward further improvements to bring home more awards next year. Brothers Welcome 29 Pledges This past year, the recruitment efforts were extremely successful. At 29, this is the largest pledge class we have had since the reestablishment in 2008. Each of these new members will undoubtedly improve the chapter in their own unique way and develop into fine young men. Their leadership potential, passion for chapter traditions, and great personalities gives me confidence that the chapter will be in good hands for years to come. Washington Chapter Achieves Highest GPA We take academics very seriously and aim to be within the top five for UW each quarter. Our intellectual efforts earned us a GPA of 3.49, the highest fraternity GPA on campus! We plan to continue these academic efforts and have established a chapter-wide GPA goal of 3.5, the benchmark for the UW Dean's List. Leading the Philanthropic Effort Last year's Bubble Bash auction was at the Mountaineers Club in Sandpoint where family, friends, and alumni were invited to join in on the fun. Following the success of this event on May 6, Vice President of the Bubble Bash Guild Eli Brewer '18 said, "The Bubble Bash Guild is incredibly excited to have raised more than $48,000 this year for the Stanley Stamm Summer Camp. Our continued partnership with Seattle Children's Hospital has provided us with immense resources and we look forward to supporting them and the Stamm Camp." Members Shine as Examples in the Community We have members in many different programs throughout campus, ranging from the Interfraternal Council standards board, student senate, campus partnerships division of student government (ASUW), and the Greek ambassador programs. We also have brothers that hold employment at the Husky Union Building, UW Recreation Department, and for UW's newspaper, The Daily. A few of our brothers have taken on leadership roles, including president of the finance association for the Foster School of Business, which was awarded the most improved registered student organization. Washington Chapter is excited about our successes and improvements over the past months, and we look forward to continuing the forward progress of our chapter. We would like to thank alumni and members for their support and involvement, and would like to invite alumni to drop by the chapter house to visit. The doors are always open to our brothers.
