C
aroline Burson Thrasher '39 passed on to Omega Chapter on September 11, 2017, surrounded by her
family's love at her home in Athens, Georgia. Caroline was a charter member of the Georgia Alpha Chapter
of Pi Beta Phi and was selected as the sorority's most outstanding New Member. She became the first initiate, served
as the first President and was a member of the Panhellenic Council. After graduating from UGA in 1940 with a
bachelor's degree in home economics, Caroline and her sweetheart, Warren, married with family present at the
First United Methodist Church in Nashville, Tennessee.
Caroline spent 27 years as a devoted Army officer's wife, and lived in 15 posts in the United States, as well as
two years in Tehran, Iran. A Diamond Arrow 75-year member of Pi Beta Phi, she served countless hours with the
Alumnae Advisory Committee and Chapter House Corporation. Her greatest loves were her husband of 68 years,
their four children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The Georgia Alpha Chapter honored her passing
with a balloon release, forever thanking and remembering her as a founder. She is an example of a life well-lived, and she
will be missed by all.
