Memories on Milledge p. 5 PBF Alumnae News Virginia Lee Mullen '41 has been married to her husband, Charles, for 77 years and happily enjoys many memories. They have a content life with 17 great-grandchildren and keep busy working on their favorite projects. Email: cgmullen@aol.com Marilynne Applebaum Spear '57 has been married for 59 years. She has 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Sherry Williams Hall '62 reports that she has remarried to a wonderful new man, Walter Hall. She has changed her name from Claudia Williams Giles to Sherry W. Hall. She loved her time at UGA and her Pi Phi sisters. Hope also volunteers at the Atlanta Humane Society and North Point Church. Email: hsrduke@bellsouth.net Erin Wilson Coomes '96 is honored to serve on the AAC of the new Delaware Alpha Chapter at the University of Delaware, along with Meredith Stone '13, who is the LDC/Resident Advisor. "They are a dedicated group of women who want to learn how to improve their chapter, so it has been rewarding for me to work with them," Meredith shared. This is her second year teaching at the university, and she is enjoying living in a different culture and spending time with her students. Email: maddi.hallmark@yahoo.com C aroline Burson Thrasher '39 passed on to Omega Chapter on September 11, 2017, surrounded by her family's love at her home in Athens, Georgia. Caroline was a charter member of the Georgia Alpha Chapter of Pi Beta Phi and was selected as the sorority's most outstanding New Member. She became the first initiate, served as the first President and was a member of the Panhellenic Council. After graduating from UGA in 1940 with a bachelor's degree in home economics, Caroline and her sweetheart, Warren, married with family present at the First United Methodist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. Caroline spent 27 years as a devoted Army officer's wife, and lived in 15 posts in the United States, as well as two years in Tehran, Iran. A Diamond Arrow 75-year member of Pi Beta Phi, she served countless hours with the Alumnae Advisory Committee and Chapter House Corporation. Her greatest loves were her husband of 68 years, their four children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The Georgia Alpha Chapter honored her passing with a balloon release, forever thanking and remembering her as a founder. She is an example of a life well-lived, and she will be missed by all.
