A s the leaves change color and a chill comes into the air, I am excited about how wonderful this year has already been for the Phi Chapter. If you have followed our newsletter the past few years, you know that we have discussed the changes that have occurred with the renovations of the Phi Chapter house. Due to normal wear-and-tear and settling, the north wall of our house was in need of repair. Over the summer, structural updates were undertaken to create a sounder, structurally safer north wall. Additionally, the chapter room, craft room, and laundry room have had beautiful facelifts to improve their flow and functionality. Additional washers and dryers were added to the laundry room, for a total of four each. The chapter room now has more space to allow more members to be a part of the weekly Phi meetings—a blessing, given the remarkable growth of our chapter in recent years. In the upcoming year, the House Corporation Board will begin the process of redesigning and renovating the main living spaces: formal, informal, entryway, fifth and seventh floor landings, and the fifth floor lounge. At this time, we are having a few designers present their ideas in order to transform these areas into places for the ladies and guests to socialize and gather. Our design goal is to have a timeless elegance with the "homey" feel many of the Phi Chapter members have requested. As a board, we are also extremely excited to finalize the last stage of this major renovation to meet the demands of our growing chapter house. Of course, we understand that as with any home, our chapter house will need constant care and attention to give the best presentation of our house to new recruits and the community, while also being a home away from home for our members. When I became a member of the HCB about six years ago, I did not know or understand how important the board was to the inner workings of Phi Chapter. The ladies on this board give freely of their time and energy, allowing the next generation of AXΩ women to continue loving and cherishing our chapter and home. If you have ever thought or wondered about becoming a member of the HCB, I ask you to please consider it now. Phi Chapter has grown stronger with the sisters we have recruited; sisters who will one day become valued alumnae. It has been gratifying to see the changes in our chapter and in our chapter home occur over the past few years. I hope the rest of 2017 provides everyone with the love and joy that the holiday season brings. Talk to you all in the spring.
