Chronicle The Carnation Stay Connected ufalphachiomega.com ufalphachi @ufaxo @ufaxo f l CHAPTER ETERNAL Jacqueline Licklider Strickl '59 entered Chapter Eternal on January 8, surrounded by her loving husband, Allen, and children, David, Cindi, Mark, and Greg. Born in Junction City, Kan., she lived in North Palm Beach since 1972, where she devoted her life to teaching and helping the community. Jay taught ceramics and art to children and yoga and fitness to older adults through the Village of North Palm Beach Recreation Department. She was also active with Meals on Wheels, the Berry Bucket charity thrift store, and the Red Hat Society. In 2004, Jay and Allen began traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada with the Airstream International RV Club. Her warmth and creativity will be missed by her friends and family, including her seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. ALUMNAE NEWS Mary Scarboro Salley '52 was taking art classes at the local university until a recent illness made it difficult. She hopes to be back in the classroom to draw and paint very soon. She received her bachelor's degree in commercial art in 1953. E-mail: jmaland2@aol.com Karen Gurley Lasater '86 reports that after studying for five years and receiving an engineering degree in materials science, she took a 180-degree turn in life at age 38. She is now thoroughly immersed in all things acting, theater, and teaching. She tours professionally Alumna Update throughout the year with the children's theater troupe, Books Alive, reaching over half a million kids in the Greater Houston area each year. Books Alive brings stories from the page to the stage to help students develop a healthy love of books while providing an opportunity to see fun and entertaining live theater in a 45-minute musical format. She teaches clinic rotations in dance, choreographs and directs junior high and community theater productions, and works for the Fort Bend Museum as presenter of Texas Pioneer life in the 1800s. She is married to Robert Harris, and they have two adorable sons, Lucas and Marcus. Jennifer Santaniello Crum '93 fulfilled a long- time dream and passed her real estate license exam.
