ALPHA EPSILON PHI 3 A Great Fall Recruitment Results in Great Talent "Phlocking" to AEPhi! Mu Chapter Supports Our National Philanthropy, Sharsheret T he fall semester started off with a productive and sisterhood-filled work week to prepare for formal recruitment. Recruitment was led by our vice president of recruitment, Samantha Davis '19, and was held September 7-10 and September 16-17, with our Bid Day celebration on Monday, September 18. The sisters of Mu Chapter were so excited to welcome 38 new women into our sisterhood. Our Bid Day was planned and set up by our vice president of new member education, Kara Kilpatrick '19. The chapter house had a vintage travel theme with passport photos of each of the new sisters and amazing decorated AEPhi letters that were arranged as a decoupage of old maps of the world. Everyone had a great time celebrating with the chapter and we concluded the evening with an a cappella performance from one of the groups on campus. The new member class has begun their new member process with a special "Phi Night" every week with icebreakers and activities to get to know each other and the rest of the chapter. On October 1, we held our fall semester philanthropic dinner. It was catered by Black Dog, a local barbecue restaurant in Champaign and Urbana. The proceeds from the ticket sales went to our national philanthropy, Sharsheret, a nonprofit organization that supports young Jewish women and their families facing breast cancer. Additionally, throughout the entire month of October our chapter held our Phlocking Phis event on campus. Phlocking Phis is Mu Chapter's fall semester philanthropic event. For a set price, organizations request to place 100 flamingos on the lawn of another organization for 24 hours. The "phlocked" houses were then given information about Sharsheret, why they were "phlocked," and how they can participate in the event. We also want to congratulate Grace Merrett '15, who was named to the Homecoming Court and represented Mu Chapter beautifully.
