In September, I visited Champaign for my fall House Corporation visit, and was able to see all of the work completed during the summer months. I am happy to report that the kitchen remodel with new appliances and exhaust system, first-floor window installation, and summer maintenance were all completed in time for the chapter members to move into the house. During each House Corporation visit, a thorough inspection of the house is conducted so we can address any needs and plan for future projects to ensure the chapter house is well maintained. As I shared with you in the last newsletter, the Mu Chapter centennial celebration is scheduled for May 2-3, 2020, in Champaign. Please email our house director, Holly Umland, at aephihouse@gmail.com regarding serving on the centennial planning committee. We hope that many alumnae will be in attendance. We hope to have the following events: campus tour, university archive tour to view the Mu Chapter archives, record oral histories from alumnae and chapter members to commemorate the centennial, celebration banquet, chapter house tour and brunch. Please join us in planning this exciting weekend! House Corporation and the chapter members are so appreciative of the alumnae who have contributed to the Mu Chapter annual giving campaign! Your support and commitment to Mu Chapter is greatly appreciated, and is important as we work to provide a well-appointed home for our members as we approach the centennial milestone and the years to come. Housing competition is greater than ever at the University of Illinois with one new sorority chapter house being built in Champaign, and another one in the planning stages. It is vital that the Mu Chapter house remains competitive with the other facilities. Future needs include new windows for all the bedrooms, remodeling of the bathrooms, air conditioning for both bedroom floors, and completion of stage two of the kitchen remodel. In partnership with Simply Told Video, we are launching the AEPhi Oral History Project. We hope to capture stories about our Mu alumnae's time in the chapter. To record your story, download the SimplyTold app in the iTunes store. The username is "illiniphi" and the password is "m.u.phi", then once you have finished recording, log in to illiniphi.thedigitalmosaic.com to view your (and other sisters) stories! Videos are approved and made available within 24-48 hours of recording. It's really simple and fun to do, and we look forward to including your AEPhi story!
