Box 247 Durant, OK 74702-0247 Address Service Requested The Sig Scroll D uring the 2017 cycle, our scholarship selection committee, chaired by Brother Bill Armstrong '64, awarded six scholarships totaling $14,500 to deserving Gamma Delta undergraduates. These awards came from our endowed funds managed by the OSU Foundation and were in addition to the awards from the ΣX Foundation. Alumni Scholarship Advisor Dr. Ken Case '66 reports that total approved giving for the 2018 cycle from these same (OSU Foundation) funds will more than double to $29,780. Buckets for Brandon Basketball Tournament The named scholarship will remember Brother Brandon Cavasos '18, who lost his life in a tragic, substance abuse-related incident. Consul Landen Peeler '19 revealed that Gamma Delta will hold an annual Buckets for Brandon basketball tournament to fund the commitment. The tournament will be in addition to other fundraising efforts to benefit the Huntsman Cancer Institute and local nonprofits. $1M Endowed Scholarship Fund Update We are actively engaged in raising the $600K needed to reach our goal of $1M in the ΣX Endowed Scholarship Fund at the OSU Foundation. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our campaign. Scholarship Creates Leadership John Wayne, USC '29 said, "Men join fraternities, leaders join ΣX." We know there is a direct link between scholarship and leadership, which is why we are the leader among OSU fraternities in awarding scholarships. By realizing the commitment from the Boone Pickens Estate to match our funds and by reaching our fundraising goal, we expect to be able to award over $90,000 in annual scholarships. What better way to let future brothers and their parents know that ΣX is serious about scholarship and leadership? Alumni and friends of the Chapter are now able to include the ΣX Endowed Scholarship Fund in their estate planning. Please contact David Mays at the OSU Foundation at dmays@osugiving.com for further assistance. Please pledge, plan, and give to secure ΓΔ's and ΣX's positions in the Greek community.
