For Alumni And Friends oF the FloridA AlphA ChApter no. 34 • FAll 2017 university oF FloridA, sigmA phi epsilon inFormAtion www.FlAlphA.org SigEp Gator Heart W e are sincerely humbled by all the donors and the volunteers to the capital campaign. We've had a great campaign and raised over $2.8 million in pledges coming from 285 loyal and generous brothers and friends. All the work has been completed and this ends the formal public phase of the capital campaign. While our capital campaign is done, our work to ensure the success of Florida Alpha continues. Our Chapter House will require maintenance and enhancements. Scholarships will help us attract the best. Funding our Chapter's participation in the educational and development pro- grams will go a long way in maintaining a top-rated Chapter. And we have a significant mortgage to pay. Accordingly, we will restart our annual campaign next year seeking a couple hundred bucks each year to help with these ongoing expenses. At a time when the Greek system has been under fire, we think it is good for us to remember that our new Florida Alpha is different. They have done very well holding each other accountable, lifting each other up to be more successful, and making their brotherhood strong. Ad- ditionally, they are very respectful of the facility that your generous dollars have renovated. Again, we wish to thank everyone for their gracious support, through dollars and time. In the event that you are ever in the Gainesville area, I hope that you will stop by the SigEp house. If you feel more com- fortable, please contact one of us and we would be glad to give you a guided tour. Capital Campaign for Florida Alpha Sees Successful Conclusion Thank You to All Supporters of This Project! Fraternally, Bert Harris '74 President, Florida Alpha Educational Foundation bert@hearlandlaw.com Bryson Ridgway '05 President, Alumni and Volunteer Corporation bryson.ridgway@gmail.com It was an opening… and it was truly GRAND! More than 100 Florida Alpha alumni, members of the active Chapter, and their guests gathered on a warm October afternoon to celebrate the Grand Opening of the $4.5 million newly renovated SigEp house at 5 Fraternity Row. Led by AVC President Bryson Ridgway '05, the group gathered in the beautiful new open-air atrium of the house to honor donors, the Chapter's leadership and service during Hurricane Irma, and to give special recognition to alumni who went above and beyond the call of duty for Florida Alpha. Alumni, actives, and guests stand in Florida Alpha's open-air atrium during the Grand Opening ceremony. Many special awards and honors were presented during the ceremony.
