FLORIDA ALPHA CELEBRATES ONE YEAR BACK AT UF Undergraduates Display Dedication and Leadership L ast spring marked exactly one year of Florida Alpha being back on campus. Deter- mined to continue our upward trajectory, we went on to recruit 23 more brothers into our Chapter. We also maintained our standard for academic excellence, boasting a cumulative GPA of 3.57, the highest among fraternities and sororities. Our Chapter had many exciting events, such as brotherhood kayaking, battle sports laser tag, and our an- nual brotherhood retreat that brought us so much closer. CAMPUS LEADERSHIP On campus, we continue making a positive impact through involvement and intentional partnership. Vice President of Finance John Goracke '18 was inducted into the Florida Blue Key Honor Society. Many of our brothers have continued to represent SigEp well in student government, campus ambassador organizations, and many other student orga- nizations. Additionally, we continued our Live Your Oath campaign with Alpha Delta Pi, circling up for meaningful conversation about campus culture and sexual assault. SIGEP ABROAD Florida Alpha traveled the world this summer interning for great companies and leading positive change. Noah Cellura '19 led an internship program down to Brazil where he and two of our brothers, Reed Espy '20 and Connor Hetterich '20, taught English to underprivileged children. They touched the lives of many children and brought them the gift of communication. Meanwhile, our brothers held internships at companies such as Protiviti, General Electric, AutoDesk, and AbbVie. HIGHLIGHTS FROM CONCLAVE We also made our first appearance at Grand Chapter Conclave since 2011, and did it as host chapter. Florida Alpha ran the legislation room where historic resolutions and amend- ments were passed. Graham Boone '20 passed an amendment to the Grand Chapter bylaws. The highlight of the week was watching Bert Harris '74 receive the Order of the Golden Heart Award for his lifetime of dedication to SigEp. Bert, on behalf of every undergraduate member of our Chapter, we thank you for everything you have done. Florida Alpha is fully moved into the newly renovated house. Our brothers get together every day for meals, studying, and brotherhood activities. This home represents so much more than a place to live; it is the culmination of everyone's diligence and the culture we have fostered here. I look forward to making memories with my broth- ers, and I know they are too. Fraternally, Aaron Blau '19 Chapter President (941) 586-3905 ablau123@ufl.edu Michael D. Watford '75 led the brotherhood by giving a total of $1,400,000 toward the goal of a state-of-the-art facility for our Florida Al- pha Chapter. A Resolution of the National Board of Directors of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity The National Board of Directors of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity took pause to review the contributions of time, talent, and treasure of the many alumni of its Florida Alpha Chapter toward the renovation of its Chapter House. In the resolution, the National Board of Directors acknowl- edged the many contributions—some set out in this article—which will ensure the continuation and excellence of our Florida Alpha Chapter for many years to come.
