Graham leads by example in every setting. Ryan Moran '19 – Ryan is called a renaissance man; a brother who excels in many different ar- eas of Chapter leadership. Jumping feet first into all that he does, Ryan worked diligently on the programming committee to create systems that would ensure long-term success for Florida Al- pha. As Florida Alpha's Chaplain, Ryan's poise and maturity sets an example for all to follow. Steven Summers '20 – A material science and engineering major, Steve has modeled the way for strong academics while remaining heavily involved in Sigma Phi Epsilon and the Gaines- ville community. He strives each day to exem- plify sound mind and sound body in his life. Serving on the Chapter's recruitment commit- tee, Steve also works as a counselor at the Flor- ida Diabetes Camp. Awarded $750 Scholarships Florentino Mateo '19 – Florentino can best be described as a self-made man. He immigrated to the United States at a young age and found a pas- sion in health and fitness, which led him to pur- sue a degree in applied physiology and kinesiol- ogy. Florentino has volunteered countless hours with various organizations around Gainesville to further his passion and give back to our great community. Noah Cellura '19 – His passion is to make SigEp, UF, and the world a better place, and he has shown it by starting a nonprofit organiza- tion focused on meeting the educational needs of children around the world. Creating a three- month internship program, Noah has recruited UF students to join him in opening an English academy for children in Rio de Janeiro. Alumni Present Chapter President with Outstanding Leadership Award Recognizing the positive impact his leadership has had on SigEp at UF, Aaron Blau '19, the Chapter's outstanding president, was the recipi- ent of a $1,000 scholarship from the Florida Al- pha Educational Foundation at the conclusion of the BMS banquet. "You can choose courage or you can choose comfort, but you cannot choose both," Bert Harris quoted as he presented the award. Citing the countless times Aaron stepped up to make difficult decisions while leading the Chapter into the newly renovated Fraternity house, and the role he played on the national level to improve the image of the Fraternity, Bert added, "Aaron Blau is a Florida Alpha brother who always chooses courage over comfort." Brothers and Alumni Honored for Leadership The Chapter also presented special recognition awards to brothers, an alumnus, and a faculty member. The Virtue Award, Ryan Mills '20; Diligence Award, Logan Kober '19; and the Brotherly Love Award, Ryan Loveland '20. The Rising Tide Award was given to Michael Lewis '74 for his many hours of volunteer work as the Chapter's spiritual advisor, mentor to the Chapter's chaplain, and day-to-day efforts in the renovation of the house. Dr. Ernesto Escoto, the Chapter's first faculty fellow, was awarded our Faculty Award for his support of Florida Alpha and the Balanced Man Program. FLORIDA ALPHA EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS T he National Board of Directors of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Frater- nity took pause to review the contributions of time, talent, and treasure by Robert Brett Ogilvie toward the renovation of Florida Al- pha's third residence, historically at 5 Fraternity Row, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida. Accordingly, and upon proper motion, the National Board of Directors of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, RESOLVES: WHEREAS, Robert Brett Ogilvie '86 worked daily, inspected week- ly, and managed the construction and renovation of the Florida Alpha Chapter House at the University of Florida twice—having managed the construction of the new wing of the house in 1985 and managed the renovation of the entire Chapter House in 2016-2017; and WHEREAS, the planned renovation of the Chapter House was over- whelming, as it involved the total replacement of all of the house sys- tems down to bare concrete in most cases. Brother Ogilvie devoted serious time to manage the renovation, as the budget did not afford an on-site owner's representative. He was the calm voice of reason among the many competing interests as architect, engineer, contrac- tor, subcontractors, suppliers, the Florida Alpha Alumni of Sigma Phi Epsilon, and the Florida Alpha Educational Foundation; and WHEREAS, when the accompanying unplanned and unfunded reno- vations proved more problematic, Brother Ogilvie calmly managed the unforeseen termites, asbestos, lack of structure, unexpected cli- mate issues, water intrusion, life-safety concerns, and unexpected requirements regarding accommodations for Americans with disabili- ties; now therefore be it RESOLVED that the National Board of Directors of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity gratefully acknowledges the exemplary patience, work, and contributions of Brother Ogilvie toward the construction and renovation of the Florida Alpha Chapter House. Brother Ogilvie demonstrated exemplary leadership, wisdom, and knowledge, as well as the remarkable ability to calmly build consensus; and be it further RESOLVED that the Board acknowledges that the efforts of Brother Ogilvie will ensure the continuation and excellence of our Florida Al- pha Chapter for many years to come. Fraternally, Christopher L. Bittman, Colorado '85 Grand President SigEp National Board Honors the Services of Brett Ogilvie '86
