Building Leaders from Leadership Institute
Leadership Institute was the best experience I have had as a brother of Delta Sigma Phi. Over the
course of five days, I sat in on presentations by facilitators and key note speakers, all of whom
were Delta Sigma Phi alumni. I participated in small group activities which enforced the Five
Exemplary Leadership Practices that we learned in the presentations. In these activities, we had to
use teamwork, coordination, ideas, and contributions from all team members. One activity was a
40-foot rock wall, where teams of three had to climb up together. A rope was tied to each member
to prevent one person from excelling without his teammates.
ere was also critical thinking sessions where everyone had an hour to think and write about the
topics. e first one was based around individual and organization values. ese critical thinking
sessions made you evaluate who you are as a person and help you get to the person you want to be.
Overall, Leadership Institute was a positive experience where I learned a lot about myself, how to
better myself, and contribute more to my Chapter. I am honored to be a part of such an exclusive
group, and would do it all over again if I could.
