T his is a key year for Zeta Chi to solidify our growing presence on Missouri State University's campus. This is a reality taken seriously by both the efforts of active members and alumni. ZETA CHI LEADS THE WAY IN RECRUITMENT The chapter is projected to lead the campus in recruitment with a class of 50 new members, ranking among the top four-largest classes on campus. We honed in on the philosophy of recruiting "the absolute best men." The young men we've signed truly represent SLAG, with great high school GPAs, multiple presidents of high school student organizations, and multi-sport athletes (including an ex-Missouri State wide receiver). Overall, we're excited to welcome such genuine, quality men to our chapter. AIDING RELIEF EFFORTS FOR HURRICANE HARVEY We are anticipating a great turnout for Pike's Pulled Pork, even though the philanthropy event is only in its second year. Already, chapter members have live music booked, pork ready to be cooked, and buns on standby. All proceeds will be going toward the relief efforts of Hurricane Harvey. VISIT US FOR HOMECOMING Homecoming is scheduled for October 22-28. We are paired with the most recent addition to the Greek community and soon to be neighbor, Alpha Omicron Pi. The parade and tailgate are scheduled for October 28. What a great opportunity to see all of our accomplishments in person! We would like to invite all alumni to experience their favorite Homecoming traditions with Zeta Chi and have some fun. Fraternally, Keaton Leslie '15 Chapter President keaton3437@live.missouristate.edu ZX won House Improvement Project of the Year from Pike Headquarters. THE ZETA CHI PIKELINE 3 Donald "Kim" Hancock '77 immediately volunteered to restore the firetruck, ultimately earning him the Colonel Edward Baxter Award in 2011 for his work. Even though the restoration was challenging at every level, Kim persevered. In a letter addressed to Jim and his Zeta Chi brothers, Kim notes, "I am proud of the way it turned out. It has brought back a significant piece of our history together that will provide enjoyment for years to come." Today, Mike Pearson '75 is responsible for the upkeep of the Zeta Chi firetruck. "It reminds chapter members that this is a direct reflection of Pi Kappa Alpha men because it represents pride, hard work, and the good times shared by many." Mac is actively involved in the Zeta Chi Alumni Association and enjoys mentoring undergraduates through their college and professional life. He encourages alumni to join and support the association. "Once a Pike, always a Pike!" Mac can be reached at mac@kccapital.org.
