THE ZETA CHI PIKELINE Fall 2017 ZETA CHI CHAPTER OF PI KAPPA ALPHA AT MISSOURI STATE UNIVERSITY HONORED FOR EXCELLENCE Zeta Chi Wins House Improvement Project of the Year Z eta Chi has had another successful start to the new school year! Not only have we received recognition on a national level for our efforts as a chapter, but within the university's community as well. We hope to continue propelling the chapter forward and ensuring its prosperity for future generations. ZETA CHI WINS MULTIPLE AWARDS FROM PIKE HEADQUARTERS Zeta Chi is not only getting major awards, but ZXAA has become a model for other alumni associations. I am very proud of our accomplishments and that we have sustained this excellence as an association for a decade. At the recent Pike Academy, held in Memphis, Tennessee, Zeta Chi received awards for Alumni Advisory Board of the Year, Alumni Association of the Year, and House Improvement Project of the Year. For the seventh year in a row, we were recognized as a 2017 William R. Nester Alumni Association of the Year Award recipient, representing the top 10% of alumni associations out of more than 150 chartered alumni associations. ZETA CHI ALUMNI ASSOCIATION HOSTS GOLF TOURNAMENT The Zeta Chi Alumni Association held its annual meeting and golf tournament at the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, on June 24. The event was well attended with 32 alumni hitting the links to raise funds for Zeta Chi. All in attendance had a good time and we want to build on this event in the future. At the meeting, past ZXAA President Jim Roebuck '81 received the prestigious Colonel Edgar Baxter Award, an honor that has only been given twice in the history of the ZXAA. VOLUNTEER LEADERS WANTED The association is looking for leaders and volunteers to help us improve awareness of our events and annual campaign. We would like to establish era captains. Era captains will be responsible for reaching out to other Zeta Chi alumni to promote the activities of the association. Are you still in contact with many of your pledge brothers or would you like to be? If yes, please volunteer by contacting the association at alumni@ zetachipikes.com. NEW ANNUAL CAMPAIGN The Zeta Chi Alumni Association launched a new annual giving program, which replaces membership The active chapter and alumni association join forces in accepting awards at a PikeU conference in Memphis, Tenn. dues, last March. To date, we have collected $6,000, which is far short of our $24,000 goal. This new campaign will allow us to meet the basic financial needs of our alumni association while doing more to ensure the long-term success of the Zeta Chi chapter. Donations will go toward the following: • Increase the Zeta Chi Chapter Endowment fund dividends: $4,000 • Establish a housing reserve fund: $5,000 • Sponsor active brothers to attend Pike University: $2,500 • Fund the ZXAA operational budget, firetruck maintenance, alumni communications, and events: $12,429 Participating in the annual campaign has never been easier, as monthly debits and online payments are now available through our website. In an effort to be efficient in this process, we are using a P.O. Box through Pennington & Company in Lawrence, Kansas. I hope to see you at Homecoming or another alumni event in the near future. If you have ideas about events or how to attract alumni, please email me at alumni@zetachipikes.com, as I would love to hear your thoughts. Lastly, I want to thank all alumni who participated in the annual campaign, attended an event, or volunteered their time for the association. Your support is what fuels this worthy cause.
