4 Lyre Notes H ello from Alpha Nu! I am so excited to relay the ever-growing list of accomplishments of your fellow sisters. First and foremost, we continued the chapter's legacy of academic excellence by earning a 3.411 GPA, placing above the all-sorority average. Twenty-five women completed the semester with a perfect 4.0! MORE THAN $5,000 RAISED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS In March, we held our annual These Hands Don't Hurt event with the men of Alpha Kappa Lambda. Thanks to our wonderful philanthropy committee and the generous donations of the Greek community, friends and family, we raised just over $5,000 in support of True North— Columbia's local domestic violence shelter. UNDERGRADUATES PLACE THIRD AT GREEK WEEK Greek Week is always a fun event for Alpha Nu. Throughout April, we served the Columbia and Mizzou communities, directed and performed a skit and competed in sports with the men of Alpha Tau Omega and Zeta Beta Tau. All of our hard work led to a third-place finish! We were excited to be paired with the men of Sigma Nu and Zeta Beta Tau for Mizzou's 106th Homecoming celebration in October. INTRODUCING A NEW MEMBER TRADITION Something new to our calendar this past semester was the new member retreat. New members came to the chapter house for food, fun and friendship. It was designed to be a safe space for sisters to meet one another and to share their thoughts about the new member process. At the end of the night, moderators led a candle pass and shared what being a member of our chapter has meant for them. We plan to continue this tradition and hope that pledge class 2017 will enjoy it just as much. MEMBERS THRILLED BY AWARDS Words cannot describe the thrill of receiving the National Council Trophy and the Seeking the Heights – Chapter Finance awards. The surprise visit from National Council President Angela Costley Harris, Alpha Beta '86 and award ceremony were a great way to kick-off recruitment. We are so humbled to receive the awards. In light of these accolades over the past semester, Alpha Nu will continue to work hard. On behalf of my sisters, thank you for your continued support. Please stop by and visit!
