3 | KAPPA KAPPA GAMMA The 2014 pledge class at their last Preference Day ceremony. F all is an exciting time at the University of Missouri with a new member class, philanthropic events, and Homecoming activities all ramping up. I am excited to tell you about some of the exciting things happening around the house at 512 E. Rollins! Sisterhood Gains Strength in Numbers Theta Chapter came back from summer break ready to work hard and prepare for recruitment. The chapter gained 76 new members this fall, and of that total, 23 of them have the privilege of carrying on the Kappa legacy in their families. These 76 women have begun their eight-week program to prepare them for everything Kappa- related before initiation. The new Kappa national program, Every Member Education, will teach the new members about the pillars of sisterhood and values of the Fraternity. Driven Toward Academic Success Our chapter GPA remained above the all-sorority average last spring with a 3.421. Each semester, we work hard to increase that average through planner parties to prepare for the semester ahead, study incentives, and GPA goals. Theta Chapter Focused on Philanthropy The Kappa Klassic, Mizzou's largest Panhellenic philanthropic event, is underway as we hosted our dads for the first weekend of the golf tournament. The Fraternity men at Mizzou will participate to raise money for our beneficiaries, Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding Center and Reading is Fundamental. In the last three years, the chapter has raised more than $150,000 for our beneficiaries and continues to spend 30 hours a week volunteering at Cedar Creek. Homecoming 2017 Events During the weekend of October 6-8, Theta Chapter officially welcomed the pledge class of 2017 and celebrated the 142nd birthday of Theta Chapter. Homecoming planning is in full swing, and Kappa Kappa Gamma will be paired with the men of FarmHouse and Phi Kappa Psi to prepare campus decorations, the Homecoming parade, and fling. We also invite alumnae to visit the house during Homecoming weekend, beginning October 20! Sisters Active on Campus and in the Columbia Community Theta Chapter members will participate in service activities throughout the semester, including aiding in organizing the nation's largest student-run blood drive, volunteering at the food bank, and canning to collect donations for the Homecoming's beneficiaries. Chapter Success Linked to Alumnae Support While the fall is a busy time around campus, Theta Chapter is lucky to have such dedicated, involved alumnae. From recruitment and initiation to Homecoming and the Kappa Klassic, alumnae of Theta Chapter continue to show their love for this campus and our chapter through their involvement. We thank you, our loyal alumnae, for your support and encourage you to stop by the house, as we would love to show you around our home and tell you about the exciting changes happening with Theta Chapter!
