PAGE 3 Endeavors T his fall, Gamma Tau has been working hard to keep academics a priority, serve the community, recruit and develop members, be active in student life, and compete in intramurals. We are feeling at home in our new chapter house and are constantly working to improve it. From academics to intramurals we are striving to make the college experience of our members the best it can be. Prioritizing Academics, Philanthropy Gamma Tau has been working hard to improve scholastically. Last spring, our GPA was a 3.09, an improvement from the previous semester. Mentor programs have been put in place to help younger members, and our scholarship chairman has been developing schedules for members struggling with time management. Philanthropy has also been one of the chapter's top priorities. We participated in the Belize Dance Marathon last semester and raised more than $6,700 for children in Belize to attend high school. This was a record not only for our chapter, but for all chapters participating in the marathon! Together, the event raised more than $10,000. Implementing the Resolute Man Program This spring, we initiated three new members: Logan Bailey '20, Jackson Van Den Heuvel '20, and Christian Phillips '20. They are already making an impact, as Jackson and Christian have been appointed to chairman positions. Changes to IFC bylaws will hopefully allow for more interaction with potential new members and therefore more students going through recruitment. Our pledge process has changed with the rollout of the Resolute Man program by Theta Chi National Headquarters. "After implementing the Resolute Man program, we have seen an improvement in quality and commitment of our members," Pledge Marshal Matt Craven '18 said. Brothers Remain Involved on Campus Gamma Tau also has members involved in many activities on campus. Nick Johnston '20 participated in Student Senate and will be a resident assistant this school year. Another notable member is Donovan Richart '20 who is a peer mentor academic counselor, where he helps new students acclimate to life on campus and college in general. We have also been improving our intramural standings and won second place in basketball, third in indoor hockey, and made the playoffs in flag football. We look forward to this semester. We have seen steady improvements in areas such as academics, recruiting, philanthropy, and intramurals. We hope to continue this trend and want to thank everyone who supports us. The chapter house is always open for visits, and we love it when alumni and parents stop by.
