The event held June 10 at the Chapter House to celebrate Brother's Day and the 63rd anniversary of our Chapter's founding was a success. A Dean from the University summarized the undergraduate Chapter's recent achievements, and board members from our newly formed MidSouth Alumni Chapter spoke about their plans and upcoming activities. Alumni also saw our recently completed driveway project where we acquired more property and added parking spaces. EPSILON KAPPA ALUMNI RECOGNIZED FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE The actives and the Alumni Chapter held a four- man golf scramble on Saturday, August 26, at Glen Eagle Golf Course. At that event, Grand Consul Citations were awarded to Robert Timm '80, Bill McCuistion '79, Joseph Pollard Sr. '79, Ken Strawn '79, Stanley Bonds '79, Terry Johnson '79 and David Williams '79. Grand Consul Citations are presented to undergraduate or alumni members who perform outstanding service to the Fraternity or Chapter. Those seven brothers were undergraduates in the mid-1970s when the International Fraternity reorganized the Chapter, leaving them as the only local members. They were given the challenge to cultivate and grow the Chapter. If they failed, the Chapter may have never survived. As we all know, they persevered, and the seeds they planted in the 1970s have grown into one of the best Chapters in all of Sigma Chi. ALUMNI, SAVE THE DATE I am happy to announce that the House Corporation will host an event at the Chapter House on Friday, October 13, starting at 6 p.m. Food and drinks will be provided. These events provide a great opportunity for alumni and actives to mingle and socialize. I hope to see you there. Armed with that knowledge, a group of alumni brothers are laying the groundwork to officially charter the MidSouth Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter. Our goal is to build something special that promotes friendship, justice, and learning to Memphis and the surrounding area. With a goal of being officially chartered by the International Fraternity in mid-2018, we have a lot of work ahead of us; but I wanted to share with you the ways in which you can help. • Join the MidSouth Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter today at www.midsouthsigs. com. This chapter will be a conduit to plug alumni brothers into social, service and networking opportunities in the MidSouth area while keeping us connected to something we love and share—Sigma Chi. • Refer your Sigma Chi friends. We need help creating awareness about the chapter. We are focused on bringing together Sigma Chi alumni from all over the MidSouth, regardless of undergraduate chapter. • Participate by attending events and give us feedback on how we can engage more brothers. • Volunteer to keep the momentum going. To ensure you stay connected, I highly encourage you to join the alumni chapter today. The cost is only $25 per year. Our next event will be a lunch on Wednesday, October 25. In early 2018, we will hold a business/election meeting with all members, and we are exploring opportunities to (Continued on page 2)
