THETA CHI PAGE 3 D uring the Spring 2017 semester, Tau Chapter continued its high standing on campus by adding new and exciting leadership positions to our repertoire. Additionally, we boasted a healthy social life with a road trip to New Orleans and several innovative socials, including a Woodstock retreat to a new music venue in downtown Gainesville. One of the most memorable experiences of the semester was the centennial alumni event where UF Athletic Director Scott Stricklin attended as a guest speaker. We also said good-bye to our beloved house director, Jake Hightower, Epsilon Zeta '06. Jake lent the Chapter an assisting hand more than once and will surely be missed. We wish him the best of luck while he pursues a career in medical geography in Las Vegas. The house director position will be filled by Dakota Woll '12, a second-year law student at the UF Levin College of Law. In 2015, Dakota served as Tau Chapter's treasurer and graduated with a finance degree in 2016. Some of his accolades include current Florida Blue Key member, past chairman of a student government agency, student senator, and vice-chairman of multiple other agencies. With Dakota's experience and leadership, he will be a great asset to the Chapter. After celebrating our first centennial on campus, Bruce Hoffmann '68 and the other members of the Reality Board planned a formal centennial event at the Chapter House. The event boasted around 75 alumni from a range of pledge classes. It was a great opportunity for younger brothers to spend time with alumni and build upon the message of "Brother for Life." Joseph Carrillo '15 represented Tau Chapter at the International Headquarters' Summer Initiative Academy this July in Bloomington, Indiana. Our Chapter has never been in better standing with IHQ. We recently won the Holland Award for our Spring recruitment program. Furthermore, we are planning on hosting Theta Chi University in January 2018. Theta Chi University is a program put together by IHQ where brothers come together from all over the southeast region to participate in a one-day educational seminar. IHQ is seeking professionals from any field to come speak on a pre-arranged topic regarding professionalism and brotherhood. Guest speakers are welcome and I encourage any alumni to please contact me at oxtaupresident@gmail.com to participate. Tau Chapter is looking forward to continuing with our traditions in the Fall and forging new traditions in the future. Alumni are an important part of these traditions. Please be sure to stop by the Chapter House next time you visit UF and mark your calendars with our upcoming alumni events.
