p. 3 SIGMA PHI EPSILON T he past few months, Texas Alpha has im- proved in every aspect to continue being at the forefront of fraternity life at the University of Texas and solidify our place as one of the stron- gest chapters on a national scale. e spring se- mester came to an end with the summer recruit- ment team successfully signing 55 outstanding young men, brothers representing our chapter well at internships all around the country, and the chapter returning from SigEp Conclave with our 10th Buchanan Cup. Texas Alpha Establishes New Balanced Man Lectureship Series Academics have always been a top priority for Texas Alpha. We now have two active members that are 40-Acre scholars, making us the only stu- dent organization on campus to have more than one. Our GPA ranks us 5th among all fraterni- ties on campus. We also have been taking steps to become registered as a Residential Learning Community through our national fraternity and established a new Balanced Man Lectureship Se- ries that featured UT professor Dr. John Sibley Butler in the spring. Brothers Remain Involved on Campus Texas Alpha members have served more than 1,000 hours of community service in 2017 and raised over $15,000 for the Boys and Girls Club and Lonestar Paralysis Foundation. We have nine Silver Spurs and eight Texas Cowboys, includ- ing two on the Cowboys executive council and a Spur who serves as one of four handlers for Bevo. Other prominent campus leadership roles held by active members include president of the Energy Finance Organization, vice president of the Real Estate Society, vice president of finance for IFC, and group leader for the Reformed University Fellowship. Annual Alumni Tailgate, October 21 All alumni are encouraged to join us for our tail- gates at the house for the San Jose St., and Kansas St. games. More importantly, we have our annual Texas Alpha alumni tailgate on campus, Saturday, October 21 for the Oklahoma State game (time TBD). e active chapter would love for all alum- ni to come out and enjoy some country music, Texas barbecue, and Texas football. As always, there is an open invitation to any Texas Alpha alumni who would like to drop by the chapter house for a visit. I would like to sincerely thank you all for the continued support. Behind every successful chapter is a strong alumni base and that could not be more true at Texas Alpha.
