Cast of Alpha Tau Omega and Alpha Phi's second place Sooner Scandals show "House Of Cards." T his spring semester for the Delta Kappa Chapter has been one of numerous successes. Delta Kappa continued our philanthropic efforts with our Annual Run ATW 5K raising more than $12,500 for Norman's community after-school programs (CASP). The event only continued our amazing and growing relationship with the program, and we are excited to see where this partnership will lead. This was our fourth year holding the event, and it has been amazing to see the event grow every year. Along with holding the event, our members are actively involved in volunteering with the program during the week throughout the semester. From helping students with their homework to simply playing a game of basketball with the kids, our members enjoy the rewarding experience of helping an amazing program such as CASP. In total, our members put in a total of 655 hours of community service benefitting the Norman community. This fall, Delta Kappa will hold our second annual Gator-Fest philanthropy in September, a weeklong event comprised of food trucks, sorority competitions, and a concert also benefitting CASP. Our inaugural event last fall raised over $5,000 for the program, and we hope that this event can become an annual tradition for the Delta Kappa Chapter. Strong Leadership Apart from philanthropy and volunteerism, Delta Kappa has built a reputation of excelling in on- campus events and organizations. Last year, we had over 50 members directly involved with campus leadership, and many more involved in campus organizations. We currently boast having the Interfraternity Council president, Alex VanNoord '15, and the Student Government Association vice president Cameron Burleson '14. Our Sooner Scandals show "House of Cards" won second place in this years' event. We were paired with the wonderful women of Alpha Phi, and it was a lot of fun getting to know them and putting together a spectacular show. We are excited to build on this success with the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma for next spring's Sooner Scandals event. This fall, we are paired with the women of Kappa Alpha Theta for University Sing, where we are hoping to follow up last fall's first place performance with another this year! High Chapter GPA Academically, I am proud to say that the Delta Kappa Chapter has achieved its highest semester GPA in recent years with an overall GPA of 3.21 for spring 2017, ranking us fourth out of the 18 fraternities on campus. We have steadily improved in chapter GPA over the past four years and hope to continue this success this upcoming semester! We strive every year to promote an environment conducive to learning and academic success. Chapter Awarded President's Trophy Delta Kappa has been blessed by many accomplishments this past semester, but our greatest accomplishment achieved this year was being awarded the University of Oklahoma's Presidents Trophy given to the most outstanding fraternity on campus! Winners of this award are recognized for superior performance across the individual categories of campus involvement, academics, volunteerism, and community experience. This has been a long-time goal for the chapter, and we are beyond honored to have received this award from President David Boren and the University of Oklahoma administration. Delta Kappa was also honored at this year's Student Life Awards, being recognized in all seven standards of excellence categories of academic achievement, commitment to founding values, leadership and member development, risk management and social responsibilities, recruitment, community service and volunteerism, and developing and fostering relationships. Chapter pride is high, and all of us here at Delta Kappa are very excited to see what this fall semester has in store. As always, we want to thank all the alumni who have supported us in our endeavors thus far and hope for continued support!
