T he President's Trophy competition was established by President and Mrs. Boren in 1995, with the first awards presented in the spring of 1996. The purpose of the competition is to encourage students to raise standards for themselves and their organizations in four areas of emphasis. Winners are recognized for superior achievement in the individual categories of academics, campus activities, volunteerism, and community experience. Since our recharter, the Delta Kappa Chapter has strived to be composed of the best men, and the best fraternity on the University of Oklahoma's campus. Being awarded the President's Trophy would be a fantastic marker to show that we are on the right path to achieve that goal. In 2015, Delta Kappa was awarded runner-up in that year's competition, and it was an honor then for a decently young chapter to take home that title. Our drive did not stop there, as we focused on refining certain aspects of our chapter and our chapter culture to make us a better, well rounded house. By instituting a more detailed academic policy, while also implementing guidelines for certain goals for members to reach, our chapter thrived in academics, volunteerism, and campus activities. The Delta Kappa Chapter is made up of passionate men, not only wanting to be leaders within the house, but on OU's campus. It is hard to look at any campus organization or group, and not come across an Alpha Tau Omega member. Throughout the past few years, we have stayed dedicated to making a name for our chapter in the Greek and the OU community. Our chapter entered the spring semester coming off a first place finish in University Sing, a successful inaugural "Gator-Fest" philanthropy benefitting Norman's community after school programs (CASP), and many members being elected or appointed to top T h e EACON fall 2017 B A L P H A T A U O M E G A • D E L T A K A P P A C H A P T E R Delta Kappa Awarded President's Trophy Cameron Burleson '14, Marc LaManque '16, Ian Duffey '14, and Jack Stagg' 15 receive the President's Trophy from Delta Kappa alumnus Joe Harroz '86, Dean of the College of Law. When his brother, Ken Purgason '72, joined ATW at the University of Oklahoma, it made an impression on Bob. Coming out of what was known as a "soft period" for the Delta Kappa Chapter at the time, the chapter blossomed into a strong recruitment period and offered invaluable experiences that led him to find his best friends among the ATW community at OU. Now, Bob sits as the president of the Alumni Association for the Delta Kappa Chapter.
