NEBRASKA CHAPTER 5 A s you read this newsletter, I hope the summer months are treating you and your families well. I'd like to share highlights from a busy spring, which included saying goodbye to our current residence, so that you can continue sharing in the Nebraska FarmHouse experience. SPRING HIGHLIGHTS Our chapter maintained an energetic presence through our activities. Philanthropy Chairman Jake Kingsley '15 successfully innovated Nacho Night, a fundraiser benefitting Autism Speaks, and Raising the Roof, supporting the Friendship Home, raising $17,500 collectively. Furthermore, members served over 2,100 hours in our community. We demonstrated a strong and responsible social life during the Eric Church semiformal, partnered events with sororities, and held brotherhood events. Yet our commitment to academic excellence is unswerving. This spring, FarmHouse achieved an exceptional chapter GPA of 3.534. Of note, senior Taylor Bolam '14 is a deserving Fulbright Scholarship recipient to teach English in Russia. Four members, Bryce Byman '15, Grant Uehling '15, Jacob Kingsley '15, and Jon Freese '15, were inducted into Mortar Board, and Caleb Dostal '16 became a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa honors society. SAYING GOODBYE On April 22, our chapter hosted family, alumni, and friends for an unofficial groundbreaking ceremony. During the ceremony, Chancellor Ronnie Green, former FarmHouse Executive Director Chad Harris, Campaign Chairman Ryan Downs '88, and other alumni spoke of the long-term importance of this project. Next year, freshmen are required to live in university housing, but other undergraduates will live close in downtown Latitude Apartments. SUMMER RECRUITMENT Our talented recruitment team is currently scouring the state for prospective members. As you know, recruitment is a collective process, in which high-quality recommendations from alumni are invaluable. This has provided incredible connections in the pasts and we hope you could continue supporting our recruitment process in this way. THANK YOU, ALUMNI As always, my firm belief is that our chapter strives for betterment in diverse areas. Intramural success, leadership in faith-based and campus organizations espouse a selective pruning process to cultivate mature, capable men upon graduation. I especially want to thank all alumni, families, and friends for providing a supportive community. In a season that enters unexplored, exciting territory, I ask and encourage you to stay connected. Keep us in your thoughts, prayers, and actions in order to translate our organization's current momentum into future vitality.
