Kappa Alpha Chapter of Kappa Delta at Florida State University • Summer 2017 Always Think of KD Kitchen Renovation Beginning December 2017 Your Gi Can Have a Lasting Impact S ince the Ensuring a Tradition of Excellence capital campaign began, we have raised $576,458 from 99 donors. We appreciate seeing so many sisters joining our project and are excited about our progress. However, our $1 million goal remains, and we have a lot more work to do. Updating the Chapter House to fit the needs of a growing Chapter has been a work in progress since 2011. We have made some important and useful changes, including expansion of the dining room and sleeping spaces, but more projects will come. Our next and perhaps largest project will be to completely renovate and transform the kitchen, which will begin in December as soon as the women move out. This project is vitally important for many reasons. The original kitchen dates to 1950—think of all the changes that have happened since the '50s! Today's kitchen must serve over 600 meals per day, which is difficult due to lack of space, out-of-date equipment, and an old ventilation system. Every aspect of the current kitchen must be updated to meet health and safety codes and become ADA compliant. This massive project will cost around $656,000, but will have an enormous impact on the day- to-day operations of Kappa Alpha once it is completed in July 2018. Please take a moment to review the proposed new kitchen plan below. The new kitchen plan will provide a more professional, safe, and efficient space for preparation and cooking. The kitchen renovation will be a large investment in the future of our beloved Chapter. We must renovate this critical space to ensure we provide the best services and living environment to our 300 Chapter members. If you have already supported the Ensuring a Tradition of Excellence campaign, thank you. Your gift is making this kitchen renovation possible. If you have yet to give but would like to make an impact on the kitchen project and future projects, please make a donation today. You can make your gift by using the enclosed pledge form or making a gift online at www.KDFSU.kintera. org/donate. The online giving form allows you to make your gift with a credit card or ACH, and the ability to set up recurring payments at whatever interval you choose. Please take advantage of spreading your gift over five years for maximum giving potential. Each and every gift is valued and will make a difference. We look forward to seeing you this fall to celebrate sisterhood the Kappa Alpha way! More details are available on page 6.
