Thank you. I t was January when Gregg Cohen '97, David Keyt '97, and Andy Sidford '97 made the four-hour drive to Hamilton for Mu's winter reception at Colgate. The reception provided an opportunity for the DKE brotherhood to meet President Casey and share how important the Fraternity was to their Colgate alumni experience. When the three friends got into the car, they weren't sure what to expect from the evening, but at 5 p.m. when they arrived at the reception, they were surprised to find DKE brothers from the 1940s to present day. "To have 50 brothers under one roof," said Gregg, "showing their support for DKE, sent a strong message to me. It was very moving to be with so many alumni who all had such a great fraternal experience and were motivated to make the trip that night." As they drove home, Gregg, David, and Andy knew they had to take hold of the momentum they had experienced. "Why," they asked themselves, despite the fact that they had amazing relationships from their time in DKE, had only one of the 20 brothers in their class donated to the Chapter's campaign? So, that week, the three wrote a letter to the members of their 1997 class, asking them to send a message of what the organization had meant in their lives by contributing to The Campaign for Mu. "As years pass," said Andy, "you can mistakenly assume that younger alumni didn't have a similar experience or value the same principles your generation embraced. That weekend in January was a great reminder that was not the case. We left motivated to support DKE and Gregg came up with the idea to get the word out to our class with the goal of 100% participation in the ongoing fundraising campaign." Through the letters and direct communications, 100% of the class of 1997 made a contribution. "We were able to see the importance of the Temple as the only remaining physical presence of DKE on campus," said David. "For those who are lucky enough to join our brotherhood, it is the first impression of alumni's love and support, but in its current state, that can only be disappointing and raise questions." The brothers of 1997 are out to prove the significance of their DKE experience and their 100% participation could certainly be replicated by generations of Mu alumni. "I have an amazing group of friends because of DKE," said Gregg, "and I thought, there's no reason that any one of those people wouldn't want to give as a thank-you for what the Fraternity has done in our lives and will do in the lives of future generations." Gregg, David, and Andy live in and near New York City, where they work and raise their families. Gregg is an office leasing specialist for Norman Bobrow & Co. He and his wife, Danielle, have two sons, Zander (3) and Caleb (1). David is the national leader for Marsh & Mclennan's Worksite Clinic Consulting Group. He and his wife, Jenny, have three children, Brandon (7), Bridget (5), and Charlotte (3). Andy heads the IG Syndicated Finance desk at Mizuho Securities.
