It's that time of year that there isn't much traffic, but we do have a few people around that we could do without. Let me try to explain that statement. I have downgrade myself to riding a three wheel bi- cycle all around out Town. What I have witnessed is that we have the Best Police Force that we have ever had. Our Chief seems to be on the ball and I think that after speak- ing to several Officers, he seems to be very well liked. I start each day by riding my trike at 4-45 AM and covering up to 12 miles completely around our Town. I have witnessed many times our Police Officers pa- trolling almost all of our streets all night long. At least when I am out there from 4AM to around 7AM. I've always found them very cour- teous and friendly. Also, I am very impressed with the Arrest report published in our Desert Messenger. Seems that sometimes there are certain people that are named quite often. Seems a shame that has to happen here in our little Town.Guess booze has something to do with it. Anyway, I know that the Sheriffs could not or would not take the Desert Messenger MyQuartzsite.com E-EDITION: 585 N. It looks great. Thank you. Hank Covey THANK YOU I would personally like to give a big thank you to the Town of Quartzsite Transit for providing the trans- portation for our 12 community kids who went to Salvation Army Discovery Camp Monday, June 19th and returned on Friday, June 23rd. Driver Jonathan took them to Headquarters in downtown Phoe- nix. Jan Collier, Transit coordinator arranged for this awesome event for these kiddos. Thanks for your support! Lee-Ann Henle TSA Quartzsite Manager FOUNDING FATHERS Firstly, thank you to the organizers of the annual Quartzsite 4th of July celebration which we look forward to as residents for the past 12 years. Unfortunately we missed it this year as the local police came over and told us that we were not permitted to put up a banner of the Ten Com- mandments on our truck at the en- trance to the Park. Somehow, being refused the right to put up a banner of the 10 Commandments does not seem in keeping with the event we are celebrating. To enjoy the gifts but reject the Giver and His laws is the opposite of how this country was founded. Shouldn't our children learn what 4th of July is all about beyond just having a good time? In their writings, our Founding Fathers expressed their reliance on Almighty God and the Bible. The freedom we enjoy and the laws protecting that freedom are based on God's laws. Thomas Jefferson said, "God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm ba- sis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God?" To those who sent the police to stop us, we ask, "What law were we breaking? The Constitution guar- antees the right of free speech. Why are you so offended that you would deprive others from having the op- portunity to read that the Author of liberty says not to murder, steal, nor lie? Isn't a good thing that our chil- dren learn that God said to honor their parents? As Ben Stein said on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary a week ago, "Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell." Trudy Sherburne
