UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA
S
ince January, Delta Alpha Chapter has focused on supporting our community and participating
in philanthropic events. As a chapter we have rallied behind two campus community events, one
local community event, and one hosted by our own chapter.
In March, we had 54 members register for Soonerthon, which raised more than $3,600 for our child
beneficiary. We also participated in the rally event held by the OU Campus Activities Council to sup-
port many other children battling cancer.
On April 1, 72 members banded together for OU's Big Event philanthropy. Brothers drove to Okla-
homa City and worked with homeowners' associations to clean up the city. We did a little bit of
everything, including picking up trash and revitalizing flower beds.
On April 23, we hosted our own philanthropic event, Delt Dogs, in support of Second Chance Animal
Shelter. Dogs from the animal shelter were invited to come and play with the chapter members as
well as many guests from the student body. Many guests chose to bring their own dogs to play with
those from the shelter. Tickets were sold by the membership for $5 in the weeks prior to the event.
The chapter raised more than $2,000 and also donated dog treats and toys to take back with them.
Less than a week after Delt Dogs, Delta Alpha members participated in Relay for Life, raising money
for cancer research by participating in benefit nights at local restaurants and a golf tournament.
Delta Alpha has worked together as a chapter to give back to our campus and community at large,
and we plan to keep this philanthropic momentum going in the future.
