our needs and opportunities Alpha Tau Omega | Delta Nu Chapter I f ATW is to return to dominance at the University of North Dakota, we must act now to establish the necessary components to once more house the chapter and re-engage our brotherhood to support the chapter initiatives. ATW Campus Identity and Recruitment Struggles Problem: ATW is the only UND fraternity without a chapter house and this creates a significant disadvantage in recruitment, chapter meetings, informal gatherings, and required chapter events. Despite staying competitive in membership size, ATW is losing top-tier men to other fraternities that provide housing for their members. Undergraduate leadership also encounters unique hurdles when planning regular chapter events like weekly meetings, brotherhood events, study tables, and initiations. Solution: e undergraduate leaders secured housing for the next three years and will reside in the Pi Kappa Phi house (419 Cambridge—directly behind 3000 University Avenue lot). is temporary solution will help the undergraduates learn to build and manage a facility budget, adapt to becoming a housed chapter, and develop best practices for membership accountabilities while residing in a house. Pi Kappa Phi is slated to return to campus by 2020 and will return to housing its own members. erefore, we must develop long-term housing for our members. Reconnecting Alumni to Delta Nu Problem: e loss of our chapter house combined with inconsistent communication from the chapter has severed ties between the old generations of ATW and our brothers today. Solution: Chapter officers and alumni leaders are committed to rebuilding an alumni communications program that focuses on biannual newsletters, one event per semester hosted for alumni, implementation of a chapter website, and use of social media platforms to broadcast their successes as well as their needs. Long-Term Sustainability Problem: Countless alumni have been positively impacted by their ATW experience, yet the combination of UND's remote location and the distribution of our alumni creates obstacles to find volunteers to support our undergraduate brothers and their goals. Solution: While local alumni volunteer support will be important, we must also seek alumni who can serve in capacities that do not require regular campus visits. In order to do so, we must utilize resources available through the UND Greek Life office and ATW Headquarters to develop stronger alumni volunteer leaders. Opportunities to volunteer are related to a building committee, alumni advisor team, and fundraising board.
