Our Tradition, Our Key, Our Future 3 LeAnn: My family legacy to Kappa and Delta Psi mean the world to me. I have been able to share my Kappa experiences with my mom, sister, and two nieces, who I had the privilege of working with as the chapter advisor when they were at Tech. Haley: My family legacy is such a fun part of my life. It is wonderful to have something in common with your grandmother, aunt, mom, and sister. I hope that my niece and two daughters will be able to join a great chapter like Delta Psi and continue the bond. Robin: Since I was only an active member of Delta Psi for a year and a half, my collegiate experience wasn't nearly as important as my alumnae experience. When I married and moved to Midland, Texas, I didn't know anyone and joined the Midland Kappa Alumnae Association and met a lot of really good friends. Q: What inspired you to donate to the capital campaign? LeAnn: My mother was really involved with the building of our first lodge on Greek Circle and I also thought Jerry Freeman Grimes '53 and Lynn Benton Forbess '58 were great influences. Glenna Shinn Wylie '55 was also a great inspiration as she continued to be involved with getting the graduating seniors to join the Lubbock Alumnae Association by paying for their first-year dues. I also donated to the capital campaign because as chapter advisor I see the great need we have for an expanded space where the members can meet, and I think my mother, Wanda, and sister, Robin, heard enough from me about the importance of it so they donated as well. This campaign will give the members a place where they can meet and study and have sisterhood activities. The other lodge was just too small to accommodate the large group that we have now. Amber: My family ties in Lubbock, at Tech, and to Kappa are really strong. So, when my grandmother was named honorary chair and the opportunity to give back arose, I felt motivated to give back. You may not feel like you can give up enough to make a difference, but if everyone will just give something, it'll amount to something so much more! LeAnn: I truly believe in the Greek experience. It is a great way to make lifelong friends and learn some new skills like time management, working with others, and organization. It prepares young men and women for future job opportunities and stresses the importance of loyalty and involvement.
