Our OppOrtunItIes FOr OregOn AlphA A HOME FOR THE NEXT 100 YEARS Built in 1928, with an expansion in 1957 and major renovations in 1976 and 2005, our chapter house—which you as an alumnus are an owner—has been a part of Oregon Alpha's legacy for almost 90 years. Our chapter house is clearly the focus of undergraduate life for SigEp. It has been a home away from home for hundreds of young men and a classroom where our brothers have learned virtue, diligence, and brotherly love. But as the chapter has grown, its needs are no longer being met by the current layout. Academic, social, and meeting space is lacking and we need to make an investment in our future. PURSUING EXCELLENCE Over the past 40 years, the annual cost for tuition, books, and room and board has increased by more than nine times—twice the rate of inflation—to more than $22,000. To assist members with the high costs of education, Oregon Alpha annually provides $20,000 in scholarships and fellowships to deserving members. Starting with a donation of $50,000 by none other than U.G. Dubach in 1972, our scholarship fund with the SigEp Foundation has grown to more than $450,000. Our endowment has provided numerous brothers with scholarships, both academic and in support of leadership programming. But there is much more we could do; many more lives could be improved if we had more to give. Our plan will ensure that Oregon Alpha continues to excel academically and remains scholastic leaders on campus and within the Greek system. SETTING OURSELVES APART While Oregon Alpha continues to attract some of the top men, we know our peers continue to make improvements both in their programming and their facilities, as well as the university and local developers. e opportunity to provide premier fraternity leadership experiences, with exposure to SigEp, OSU, and regional programs, will keep us at the top. We have an opportunity to invest in our chapter to remain competitive and provide additional educational and communal living space, provide a quality living environment, and integrate a living-learning element to our chapter experience. Oregon Alpha is a designated Residential Learning Community (RLC), but we can do more. Much more. If we wish for SigEp to continue its leadership at Oregon State, we must ensure that we are providing an environment that facilitates educational and leadership support for our future generations. 4
