T hanks to our loyal and generous alumni, it has begun: the construction of our new Chapter House! When the House Corporation began to investigate the house rebuilding project more than three years ago, we had no idea where it would eventually lead. One of the most important things we did early on was recruit highly talented and experienced Lambda Chi Alpha alumni. We enlisted those with the real estate, construction, finance, and legal skills necessary to embark on the largest construction project that the Gamma Upsilon Chapter had ever attempted. Now, during the Spring of 2017, these plans have become a reality as we held a groundbreaking ceremony April 21-22 and will soon begin construction on what we believe will be one of the premier fraternity houses on NC State's campus! The groundbreaking event was a big success and re-energized all of us closely involved with the capital campaign, alumni and undergrads. As we seek financing for our new house, the more paid donations we have in hand, the better. If you have pledged and have the capacity, please accelerate your donation. If you have not pledged, please do so now to help us meet our $2.5 million goal! With construction commencing at the end of June, we hope to have the house move-in ready by Fall 2018. Some of the highlights of the new house include: First Floor/Basement • Dining/Chapter Room with seating capacity for all 100+ brothers • Large Study/TV Room • Full commercial kitchen with separate serving area • Exterior courtyard • House Director suite with separate entrance Second Floor • Double and Single bedrooms • Large Club style bathrooms Lambda Chi Alpha | Gamma Upsilon Chapter North Carolina State University | Spring 2017 BUZ GUZ GAMMA UPSILON CHAPTER PREPARES FOR CONSTRUCTION Help Us Complete Construction on Time—Donate Today! • Chapter Library/Study • Conference Room • Second floor balcony • Entry Foyer with open stair to lower level • Covered Front Porch Third Floor • Double and Single bedrooms • Large Club style bathrooms • Laundry facilities • Large Study/Group Work Area We are still gleaming from the groundbreaking celebration and are excited to have reached this huge initial milestone. We wouldn't be where we are today without the support of the 114 alumni who have stepped up and made donations. While we have raised more than $1.7 million to date, we have only garnered 12.83% alumni participation, and the average participation in Greek campaigns is twice that. If we want to have a state-of-the-art Chapter House that stands the test of time at NC State, then we must see an increase of dollars and participation from our 762 active alumni to reach our goal. With the bricks and mortar construction on the horizon, we must turn our attention to seeing this project through to ensure a solid foundation for Gamma Upsilon's future at North Carolina State. How well we can do this, and how far we can go, depends on YOU! That is why we are asking those of you who have not contributed to the LCA: A Legacy of Excellence Continues campaign, to please do so now. If you have already contributed and can dig a little deeper, please consider doing that as well. As we think about the future and the undergraduates moving into the new house in the fall of 2018, we envision everyone's name on the donor plaque that will be on display in the house. Take a look at the donor list. Is your name on it? Each donor who contributes $2,500 or more will be recognized on this plaque. We would love to make the plaque twice as big, with twice as many names, or, better yet, four times as big, with four times as many names. We're sure you have memories of Gamma Upsilon that still influence your life. We have built a Chapter with a wonderful reputation—at North Carolina State and nationwide. With your help, we'll ensure Gamma Upsilon Chapter's prominent standing at North Carolina State for years to come. Please join our growing list of contributors today!
