Seniors from the 2013 pledge class during preference day of recruitment last fall. A s times continue to change year to year in our society, women continue to join sororities as they enter Mizzou. Whether it be to make the large university feel smaller, to get involved on campus, or even to follow in the footsteps of family before them, women are initiated into sororities each semester. Many sororities at Mizzou have experienced great growth in their chapters as women come to the university. After fall 2015 recruitment, the sorority community at Mizzou had more than 4,500 members in 16 National Panhellenic Conference chapters. The leadership skills gained through hands-on experience, opportunities for active participation in philanthropic endeavors, and the support group helping the adjustment to college and success for the future all prove invaluable as women graduate and set foot into today's competitive world upon graduation. National studies conducted annually produce consistent results for benefits of students who join Greek organizations. Some of these benefits include a higher likelihood that Greek students will stay in college, and Greek students who graduate are more likely to get involved and volunteer with charitable organizations after receiving first-hand experience with charities throughout their years as an undergraduate. In addition, Greeks remain loyal to supporting Mizzou and are an important aspect of the University of Missouri. Despite the unexpected events on campus in fall 2015, positive change has defined the campus climate in the past couple of years. The events have forced MU as a whole to re-examine its priorities and reinvigorate its leadership. Mizzou students, faculty, and staff are learning from the mistakes arriving from the situation in the fall of 2015, and everyone is hopeful for a positive transformation. The focus at MU remains on academics, and Greek life at Mizzou remains dedicated to the academic pursuits of Greek students. Greek Life at Mizzou reMains a successfuL Part of university cuLture
