Honoring Our Past, A New Home for Sigma Omicron Chapter t he Sigma Omicron alumnae and undergraduate leadership has developed a solid plan to address the long-term viability of the Kappa Delta experience on the University of Illinois campus. Through careful study, assessment, and planning, it has been determined that building at a new location will provide functional spaces and amenities to meet the needs of the current and future collegiate members as well as help the chapter remain competitive and provide a space for alumnae to gather. The house corporation has partnered with Winstead Wilkinson Architects PLLC to design a 28,815 square foot chapter house at 110 East Armory that will provide immediate access to campus as well as an environment in which KDs can create new memories. estimated project cost $4.5 million Front cover rendering, project highlights, and floor plans do not represent the final plans and are for discussion purposes only. Lincoln Avenue Urbana, IL 61801 Dear Sorority Alumnae: Congratulations to the Kappa Delta Sigma Omicron Chapter House Corporation on your decision to relocate and rebuild your chapter house. The administration of the University of Illinois appreciates the leadership your undergraduates have provided the University for over 90 years. Since its founding in 1923, Kappa Delta Sorority has contributed positively to the University of Illinois and our fraternity and sorority community. Your alumnae have established themselves in key business, professional, political and academic positions throughout the State of Illinois and the nation. The fraternity and sorority community is alive and well at the University of Illinois! After the record-breaking formal recruitment this past fall, the Panhellenic Council is over 3,500 women strong. The need to accommodate larger chapters, provide updated life safety features along with modem technology and amenities, is a challenge for most of our house corporations. Many fraternities and sororities are planning and executing renovations to make such improvements to their chapter houses. In fact, several have completely rebuilt their chapter houses in recent years. Obviously, these projects can only happen with strong alumnae support. Kappa Delta's decision to provide a modern and safe living and social environment with exceptional study and meeting accommodations will significantly enhance the overall university experience for your undergraduate members. Fraternities and sororities are an important piece of campus life at the University of Illinois. I believe that members' lives are enriched greatly by their undergraduate Greek experience. The leadership, academic, service, and philanthropic opportunities are abundant and valuable and the friendships and values are everlasting. Alumni engagement is essential to the successes of our chapters, and I hope that you will get involved in some way with the Sigma Omicron Chapter. If you are already a volunteer or donor, thank you for all you do to keep the chapter and our Greek community robust and healthy. A strong and competitive university depends on bright undergraduates and supportive alumni. Kappa Delta Sorority, through its undergraduates and alumnae, has contributed to the strength of the University of Illinois for almost a century. Your support of the current building project will help ensure that Sigma Omicron Chapter continues to thrive on the campus of the University of Illinois. Best wishes on your campaign!
