O
nce again, Gamma Lambda completed
a successful fall semester. Our Men of
Principle continued cultivating their intellect
by finishing second in grades with a cumulative
GPA of 3.406. Even with the highest number of
active members and pledges at OSU with a total
of 168 men, we continue to outperform the IFC
GPA of 3.16 and the all-men's GPA of 2.82.
Gamma Lambda has shown excellence through
academic and athletic endeavors on campus as
well as being recognized on a national level. At
the 177th General Convention, Gamma Lambda
was awarded the prestigious Sisson and Knox
awards, the highest awards a Beta chapter can
earn! We also won the Leadership Development
Award, Academic Excellence Award, and the
Outstanding Recruitment Award. In addition,
there was a very successful Gamma Lambda
reunion with around 150 Betas, active, and
alumni reveling in each other's company.
Gamma Lambda participated in America's
greatest Homecoming and the Beta lawn was an
especially popular stop on Walkaround this year
as we were fortunate to have our own Corey
Kent White '16, former contestant on The
Voice, return to our stage.
We displayed our vocal and choreography
talents in the annual Freshman Follies and
Varsity Revue competitions. We paired with
the women of Zeta Tau Alpha for both of
these shows and were very successful. The
Varsity Revue show, "Stuck in Metropolis,"
took second place overall and three other awards
for most philanthropic, most entertaining, and
best vocals. The Freshman Follies show, "Little
Less Bad Wolf," won first place overall, best
vocals, and all of the remaining male awards,
including best male director, performer, and
follier. We also participated in the annual Spring
Sing competition with the women of Pi Beta Phi
on Mom's Day, April 8.
We had the privilege of initiating 35 members
of the Alpha Epsilon Pledge class. With a first-
place Follies show under their belt, winning first
in grades among all Greek pledge classes, and
high involvement on campus and in intramurals,
the future leaders of Gamma Lambda look
promising.
Recruitment Chairman William Fowler '19
is preparing for Greek Discovery Day and
looking forward to bringing in a great pledge
class for fall 2017. This summer, we also plan
to take several members and advisers to the
National Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah,
July 27 through July 30. Due to the efforts of
our advisory team, headed by Jody Vivion '09,
and our newest national leadership consultant,
Zane Carlson, Knox '16, we have been able
to make great strides toward reaching our goals
and improving leadership among our members.
As always, thank you to all of our alumni. You
are the reason Gamma Lambda has such a strong
foundation and continues to improve. Whenever
you find yourselves in Stillwater, the Beta house
will always be open. I encourage you to meet
some of the undergraduates and see for yourself
the high-quality men that represent Gamma
Lambda today.
Yours in _kai_,
Kevin Quinn '18

B
rothers, we could use some additional volunteers to increase awareness of our Think Back.
Think Big. Think Beta. campaign by doing some calling, e-mailing, and/or texting of brothers
in certain eras. As you can conclude, the greater the participation in our project, the quicker we
reach our goal. We have gaps in volunteers for graduation classes from 1988 to 1998 and 2010
to 2015. If you can give a little time and assist with this task, please contact Jim Hammack '66
at dr_jim_hammack@yahoo.com or (405) 760-7792 or Larry Maguire '65 at larrymaguire@
yahoo.com or (214) 577-7370. Thank you for your support!
