This is the first of many changes occurring at 1224 Fremont. new poliCieS And proCedureS Under the leadership of ryder Chaffee '17, the active chapter has worked hard to develop a set of standards, along with corresponding policies and procedures, which we believe will usher in a new era of excellence at Sigma Chi. These include transforming the house into an alcohol-free environment with quiet hours Sunday through Thursday; a recruitment program that involves alumni and with a focus on academically excellent prospective new members, legacies, and geographic diversity within the state of Kansas; and enforceable policies that create respect for the physical structure of the house. beCome enGAGed I encourage you to stop by the house the next time you are in Manhattan, meet Mom Julie, and visit with the active members. They are excited to meet their alumni brothers and talk about Sigma Chi and what it has meant to us and our success as members of society. If you have any questions about any of this or would like to find out how you can get involved, please do not hesitate to contact me. In Hoc, doug burton, m.d. '89 House Corporation President (913) 219-5468 dburton@kumc.edu A New Era of Excellence for Sigma Chi S pring semester for Delta Upsilon Chapter has started off strong. We found a housemother after about a year of searching and it has been great. About half the guys living in house have never experienced a housemother so it has been a learning experience for them as well as a pleasant reminder for the older brothers on how nice it is to have a housemother. An increase in alumni relations is a goal for the chapter and this year we have had the most success. Alumni have worked closely with the active chapter to better our policies/procedures, improve our recruitment process, and also just be there to give advice. Spring semester is a busy time that includes Mom's Weekend, formal, Derby Days, spring break, and much more. Derby Days is led by brent Keffer '19 and michael bailie '18. We have changed our marketing strategy and strive to raise more money from the community and not just Greek life itself. Toward the end of the semester, we will vote on positions for next year, which we are all very excited for. The newest pledge class of 2016 has already started to mold into up-and-coming leaders and we look forward to what they can bring to the chapter next fall, in addition to PCO '15 and the benefits that they bring as well. All in all, spring semester and the school year in general have gone smoothly. We have had big changes and new faces around, but it has had nothing but positive effects on the chapter.
