ALPHA EPSILON PHI 3 Philanthropic Service a Cornerstone of Mu Chapter A s the new chapter president, I could not be prouder representing Mu Chapter and the intelligent, charismatic, and motivated young women in our organization. This semester, we continue to emphasize the importance of sisterhood and events that will better ourselves as students and individuals. Philanthropy and Service As a chapter, we are dedicated to bettering the campus and the Urbana-Champaign community and are focused on reaching out and finding new places to volunteer and get involved. Early in the semester, we participated in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service where we made tie blankets for local hospitals. We also hosted the Champaign-Urbana Trickers, a martial arts acrobatic group, to come to our chapter house to perform and teach our sisters some basic moves. This semester, we raised nearly $3,500 for the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation by hosting a dinner and a "Hold 'em or Phold 'em" card game event. Our chapter members also participate in other Greek chapters' philanthropic events. Recruitment Our chapter participated in informal recruitment this semester, led by VP of Recruitment Sam Davis '19. Our five new members are great additions to our chapter and are enjoying the new member process. We celebrated all of our new members at our extremely successful new member dance, AEPhi and Co., in February. It was planned by all of our new sisters with the help of VP New Member Educator Kara Kilpatrick '15. Mom's Weekend The weekend of April 7-9, we had the pleasure of welcoming our mothers to campus for Mom's Weekend. We participated in events at the house and around campus, including a dessert bar, lunch, silent auction, and trunk show. All of the money raised during our silent auction went toward our scholarship fund. Last semester, we awarded 10 members with scholarships and hope to continue this for many semesters to come. We are planning a Mu Chapter alumnae event in the summer. This event will be in Chicago with more details coming soon. We also look forward to our alumnae visiting for Homecoming on October 28. We want to give special thanks to the Parents Club for the new AV equipment in the dining room. I don't know where we would be without you.
