A Strong Semester in the Making Xi Chapter plans sigma Kappatizers event and reCruits new members T he women of Sigma Kappa have settled back into the routine of life on campus. This semester, we have already engaged in some fun sisterhood movie nights, planning for our new philanthropy event, and welcoming our new members from informal recruitment. Academic Pursuits This past fall semester, the women of Xi Chapter worked hard to increase our GPA. We continued our upward trend, and are pleased to report that we brought it up another .05 points, putting our chapter average at a 3.25. We continue to rise within the Greek community GPA rankings and we have set a chapter goal to further improve our academics. Philanthropic Planning Xi members are starting a new philanthropy event – Sigma Kappatizers. Members will sell tickets for all you can eat appetizers. This event is in coordination with our kitchen management service, Greek House Chefs. They will provide the food and members will sell tickets and run the event. This event is part of our commitment to the Ultra Violet Campaign to support the Sigma Kappa Foundation. Welcoming New Members Xi Chapter just wrapped up informal recruitment and we were fortunate enough to welcome home four new women. We are excited to have these lovely women join our sisterhood this semester. This puts our projected initiation group of new members at 12, which includes the women from our informal recruitment that took place late fall. These women went through the new member education program and became official members of Sigma Kappa on April 2. Celebrating Moms and Seniors The spring is also filled with celebrations with our moms and senior members. We are looking forward to welcoming our mothers on April 8 for our Moms Weekend event. We hope to fill this with many special activities that will take place in the Lawrence community. Xi is also ecstatic for our alumnae event that is in the works and the date is to be determined. The spring is always wistful as well, as we get ready to celebrate our senior members and all they have given to the chapter before they graduate. As always, we are endlessly grateful for our amazing alumnae base and all they do to support our chapter. Please stop by the chapter house anytime you are in Lawrence. We hope to see you soon!
