3 SIGMA CHI it. When picking a long-term career goal, trace out a reasonable set of steps to get you there. If you're having trouble, then talk to someone who has already done it. But don't ever get too down on yourself if you make a mistake, because mistakes are a part of life— learn from them and move forward." Without Alpha Beta, Pete might not have found his path, so he encourages his fellow alumni to support the chapter by staying connected. "We need to give back to the chapter to ensure that others have the same benefits we did. It is important to continue the tradition and legacy of Alpha Beta!" E-mail: pete@mightyhive.com Undergraduates Recognized by Sigma Chi Foundation, Receive Prestigious Awards Alpha Beta Continues to See Success Achievements Fall 2016 was another excellent semester for Alpha Beta Chapter. For the second year in a row, we were awarded the Sigma Chi Foundation Peterson Award, the highest honor given to collegiate chapters. We were also named a Thomas Cowan Bell Chapter by Sigma Chi Foundation. This recognition grants our chapter more leadership and scholarship opportunities. Membership This year, we instituted the P4B program, culminating in the initiation of 16 new members on March 18, one of our largest pledge classes in recent memory. The program was new to our chapter, but embracing it yielded positive results not only for the new members but for the chapter as a whole. We are excited to see how these men help lead the way toward a new era of Alpha Beta and Sigma Chi. Philanthropy We have participated in various philanthropic events this year, including campus cleanups, feeding and clothing the homeless, and Merlin Olsen Day. During Derby Days we hosted a carnival and concert that raised funds for the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Academics and Brotherhood We are studying hard and are proud to maintain a cumulative GPA higher than the campus average. We are working diligently to strengthen our brotherhood within the house and to create and strengthen ties with our alumni. If you are ever in the area, we invite you to stop by the chapter house for a visit. In Hoc, Justin Nelson '19 Consul cal.sigmachi.pres@gmail.com Brothers participate in the Merlin Olsen Creek Cleanup Day. Brothers spend their free time on Saturdays strengthening ties and appreciating the great outdoors.
