FIJI Jayhawker 4 Three of the cabinet members attended the FIJI Academy in St. Louis: Corresponding Secretary Keegun Gose '19, Recording Secretary Daniel Erickson '19, and Treasurer John Foster '19. Undergraduate Brothers John Foster '19, Cole Entzminger '20, Scott Inman '20, Colin Healy '20, Colin Duffy '20, and Ryan Foley '20 help pack meals as part of a philanthropic event with Kappa Alpha Theta and the Stop Hunger organization. Pi Deuteron PrePares for a ProDuctive sPring semester Chapter Sees Increases in Grades, Philanthropic Events, and Campus Involvement I t's been a productive couple of months within Pi Deuteron. We've hosted numerous service events, and initiated an outstanding pledge class. SCHOLARSHIP The Chapter received a cumulative 3.23 GPA for the fall 2016 semester in comparison to a 3.01 the prior spring semester. This improvement is just the beginning. We have plans in place, under the leadership of scholarship Chairman Daniel Erickson '19, to continue striving to achieve more scholastically. PHILANTHROPIC PURSUITS We were honored to sponsor a Natural Ties fundraising event with the help of our very own Chef Kevin. Natural Ties is an organization that works to integrate people with developmental disabilities into college organizations. We prepared and served lasagna, pasta, and breadsticks to members of the campus community. Additionally, on the afternoon of November 20th, the gentlemen of Pi Deuteron and the ladies of Kappa Alpha Theta provided an all hands on deck effort to fund and assemble 25,920 lifesaving meals that were shipped internationally to developing countries to feed children in need. Enough funds remain to fund an additional 15,000 meals for a second event this spring! We loved pairing with Theta and Stop Hunger Now to accomplish such a feat and we look forward to our next event this semester. By out-fundraising K-State in the annual FIJI run, supporting Natural Ties with a lasagna fundraiser, donating Legos to children hospitalized over Christmas, hosting a blood drive this spring, and participating in Rock Chalk Revue for the second year in a row, we are mighty proud to live out our value of service. INITIATION We were fortunate enough to initiate 25 new Undergraduate Brothers into our Chapter on February 4th. We are confident that each of these individuals has what it takes to continue propelling our Chapter to new heights, and we are excited to welcome them to our Brotherhood. CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT Our Brothers remain active in in campus organizations across The Hill. We filled two Junior IFC spots this year and hold numerous positions on Student Senate. We also are participated in Rock Chalk Revue and we thank everyone who came to see our show. We are also a fielding an intramural basketball team and look to take the championship trophy back where it belongs, in the Pi Deuteron house. We would like to thank all of our Graduate Brothers that make everything we do possible. Without their generous support, we would not be fortunate enough to live in such a divine space and participate in so many activities. We look to make you proud and offer a high return on your investment in us. Fraternally, Matt Johnson '18 Chapter President mattj_25@yahoo.com Perge!
