PAGE 2 O ne-third of the Cornell University undergraduate student population participates in fraternity and sorority life. Alpha Phi members are a vital part of this community. The Delta Chapter has women from all over the country and world. Representing all areas of campus, the chapter has members with diverse interests and areas of study. Delta's 185 current members include researchers, varsity and club athletes, student teachers, businesswomen, designers, artists, dancers, future doctors and lawyers, club founders and leaders, engineers, Hotelies and Aggies, a long history of orientation leaders, certified fitness instructors, entrepreneurs, and overall well-rounded young women. • Sisters hail from CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TX, VA, VT, WA, and WI, as well as Puerto Rico, Canada, China, England, Hungary, Japan, Qatar, Spain, and Taiwan. • Members are enrolled in all seven undergraduate colleges, including the newly established Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. It is safe to say there is never a dull moment for members of Alpha Phi. Whether snow tubing at Greek Peak, taking a group yoga class, or enjoying a Banfi's brunch with sisters, Alpha Phis are always having fun together! Outside of the myriad planned sisterhood events the chapter hosts, as generations of Deltas before them, current sisters can always be found relaxing in the formal living room together or hanging out after dinner in the dining room! Begun in fall 2016, this week focused on spreading awareness about our philanthropic cause: women's heart health. The week is filled with activities planned to educate, get fit, and have fun! Events included a free beginner's yoga class, heart health coffee breaks, contests to win a Fitbit, presentations by a nutritional speaker, and a frozen yogurt fundraiser. Ivy Man In its 10th year, Ivy Man is an all-male beauty pageant held each fall. This event showcases the talents of some of Cornell's most eligible men as they compete for the prestigious title of Ivy Man. The competi- tion is broken into three sections: outfit of choice, talent, and question and answer. All proceeds benefit the Alpha Phi Foundation, supporting women's heart health. This year, the chapter raised over $7,000! Red Dress Gala Each spring, Delta hosts Red Dress Gala during Alpha Phi's Parents' Weekend. Red Dress is a night for sisters, along with their families, friends, Alpha Phi alumnae, and other members of the Cornell com- munity, to raise money for the Alpha Phi Foundation by participating in a silent auction. Participants learn more about women's heart health and enjoy performances by some of Cornell's best a cappella groups. During the 2016 Red Dress Gala, over $8,000 was raised for the Alpha Phi Foundation. Krista Depew's Memorial Softball Tournament The chapter's spring softball tournament is dedicated in loving mem- ory of a beloved sister and friend, Krista Depew, who passed away much too soon in May of 2012. Krista was an incredible member of the chapter and the Cornell community. The Delta Chapter celebrates the remembrance of Krista's immortality by playing her favorite sport: softball. All proceeds from this tournament go toward the National Meningitis Association, in support of spreading awareness about the disease and its prevention.
