Mu Messenger 4 report from Interior Design Committee W e are delighted with the progress of our new home! Colors and finishes are coming together beautifully, and we are now in the process of looking at accessories, draperies, art and all the finishing touches that make a house a home. We know that "DG's better than all the rest!" and want our home to reflect that sentiment. Unfortunately, for those of you who have ever built or remodeled, you know what happens to the budget during the construction phase. As a committee, we are appealing to our DG sisters, if at all possible, to make an additional (or initial) donation to our home. This money would be used specifically for interior design and earmarked as such. If you would like to donate to our cause, please write "INTERIOR DESIGN" on the memo line, make your check out to Mu Chapter House Corporation and mail to: Mu Chapter of Delta Gamma Fraternity 2101 W. Broadway Ste #103-PMB #119 Columbia, MO 65203-7632 There is no donation too large or too small. If everyone donates a little, it will add up to a lot! Thank you! ITBs, Trisha Lampitt Stahly '73 Chairman DG Joan Armbruster Fiala '52 Gives Back to Mu Chapter W hen I was asked to join the campaign committee to raise funds for our new DG house at Mizzou, I agreed wholeheartedly. The mortgage was burned when I was a student, and the house was a lovely home provided by former Delta Gammas. Now it is our turn to provide a lovely home for future Mu DGs. My three older sisters were Delta Gammas and one was at MU, and I felt an obligation to keep our house a good memory for both of us. When making my calls, I explained why we needed to build new and it was greeted with understanding. I found that talking to some was as if we had picked up the conversation from our days at school! I even talked to some of the alumnae that were in my sister's class. I really had fun talking to so many, and I am very grateful that many were generous. I just wish that I could have inspired more of the ladies to participate. It is a very nice idea to be able to pay back for the wonderful memories of sisterhood and the fun times we had together. We are still collegians at heart and when seeing an anchor, don't we know it! One never leaves sisterhood memories behind; I am one of those. Even my license plate says DG ALUM. It is nice that there is still time for all to participate in the building of the new (and improved) chapter house. It is still a skeleton at the moment, but it will be exciting to watch her grow! M u chapter collegians and alumnae share tremendous pride in our Lectureship that was established in 1996. Among the 20 Delta Gamma chapters that sponsor a Lectureship with the Delta Gamma Foundation, ours is unique due to our partnership with the University of Missouri. This partnership has helped us reach a degree of excellence for speaker presentations; our Lectureship is recognized as part of the fabric of the University of Missouri! Together, we have hosted 22 speakers since 1999. These lectures are free of charge to Missouri University students, and have recently included Elizabeth Smart, kidnapping survivor, author; Dr. Jane Goodall, world- renowned primatologist, conservationist, UN Messenger of Peace; Tim Gunn, prominent in the world of fashion, co-host of Project Runway, author; and in the fall of 2016, Bennet Omalu, M.D., whose research into brain damage among professional athletes is chronicled in the film Concussion. We are certainly proud of our Lectureship! We hope that you are too and welcome any support that you can share.
