Sigma Omicron Spotlight on A special building campaign newsle er for Kappa Delta at the University of Illinois Spring 2017 Let Us strive for that Which is honorabLe, beaUtifUL, and highest M uch like the girls in this photo, your Sigma Omicron Building Committee always strives for the highest. The upcoming relocation and construction of our chapter house is no exception. To complete this project as envisioned, a major investment from the chapter and alumnae will be needed in the future. While we are not at a point to ask for broad-based support today, we encourage you to be on the lookout for when you are called upon to give back to Sigma Omicron. At this time we are seeking the support of sisters to volunteer as a pledge class or era connector. If you are interested in getting involved with our campaign efforts, please contact campaign chairman, Michelle Parmley Rabideau '87. Love in AOT, The Sigma Omicron Building Committee Allison Hartmann '19 teaching a Girl Scout that confidence really does rock. Why did you decide to join KD? Sue: I joined Kappa Delta because I instantly felt a connection with so many of the girls. KD represented everything I was looking for in a sorority in terms of scholarship, social, community involvement, and friendship. The women seemed a lot like me, and I knew I had found where I belonged. Joining Kappa Delta was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Lauren: I decided to join Kappa Delta because from the first round of recruitment, I knew right away I made a connection with the girls in the house. They were smart, funny, and so positive. I knew it was the house for me. What are some of your favorite Kappa Delta memories? Sue: My favorite memory was Bid Night each and every year. The celebration was great fun. The excitement and anticipation of so many good times yet to come and that feeling of being so loved and welcomed is indescribable. I met some of my dearest friends at Kappa Delta, and these ladies have become lifelong friends. I continue to be so grateful that Sigma Omicron brought us all together. Lauren: Well, I'm just getting started, but I have enjoyed getting to know not only my pledge class but all my Kappa Delta sisters. Kappa Delta so far has given me friends who I know, like my mom, are friends I'll have forever to help make memories I'll never forget. I have also loved being able to share this special part of my life with my mom. Being "sisters" with her has made our relationship closer than ever. I cannot express enough how priceless the memories we share are. I was touched by the story of Sue Miller Prince '87, a pledge sister of mine, and her daughter, Lauren Prince '20, and they took the time to share what it meant to become Kappa Delta sisters. This past fall, Lauren was initiated into Sigma Omicron, and to her surprise, her mother, and now Kappa Delta sister, attended the special ceremony. I had the pleasure of asking them a few questions about their Kappa Delta experience and what they hope for the future.
