The Student Council advisor, Mrs. Avila, and twelve of StuCo's students left on Thursday, January 26th. "I was able to meet new people and learn the environ- ment of their school (Lake Havasu High) and how different it is from our school." Denisse Franco stated when asked about her experience at State. The students returned home, after three days, on Saturday. State has been a learning and exciting experience for those that went. On January 18, 2017, there was an award ceremony of the students who had perfect attendance and/ or were on the honor roll for last semester. They received a certifi- cate honoring their achievements. For many the highlight, though, was the ice cream everyone also received. There were 33 students recognized for honor roll and 7 stu- dents who have managed to have perfect attendance so far this year. This year's first art show will take place from January 31st through February 13th. The opening recep- tion is on February 2nd, beginning at 5 pm and ending at 7 pm. Prizes will be awarded to students with the winning projects. There are many things that make Salome High School great. One of them is the emphasis on art around cam- Salome High updates pus! The players have improved so much since the beginning of the season. Coach Clough says, "We need to win the next three games in order to make it to playoffs. If we go to playoffs, we'll be the first team in four years to make it." Coach McCarty is very proud of his players this season as well. "We have made so much improvement over the season. I'm confident that for the upcoming games we will do pretty good." In February, track, softball, and baseball will begin. Soon the reporters of Salome high will have a wrap up of basketball season and begin reporting on these fine sports.
